Overview

Pixal 3D is a Calgary-based survey and geospatial company hiring a Construction Surveyor to support surface mine operations near Elkford, British Columbia. You will be based in Calgary and work a rotation at site, with travel, hotel accommodation and a company vehicle provided. This is not a camp role.

The work is hands-on field surveying: as-built surveys and construction staking at an active surface mine. Drone survey work is part of the role if you hold an Advanced RPAS certificate, and we will support you toward one if you do not.

Schedule, Travel and Accommodation

- Work location: surface mine site near Elkford, British Columbia
- Rotation: 14/14 or 14/7. We are flexible on this and will discuss a schedule that works for the right candidate
- Home base: Calgary, Alberta. You are home on your days off
- Travel: roughly 3.5 hours between Calgary and site, driven once at the start of each rotation and once at the end. Travel time is paid
- Hotel accommodation plus Living Out Allowance while on rotation. This is not a camp role
- Company vehicle provided for travel to site and for use on site
- Paid travel between Calgary and site

Duties

- Complete as-built surveys of roads, pads, ditches, berms, ponds, laydowns and site infrastructure
- Construction layout, grade checks, slope and offset staking
- Perform topographic and detail surveys using GNSS RTK
- Establish, check and document survey control, and report any control found disturbed
- Complete stockpile, pit and dump volumetric surveys and quantity reporting
- Fly drone survey missions for photogrammetry and LiDAR capture where certified to do so
- Process field data and prepare CAD and GIS deliverables to client standards
- Maintain daily field notes, quality checks and reporting
- Work to site rules including orientation, hazard assessments,



radio protocol, haul road and mobile equipment awareness, and blast deconfliction

Experience

- Geomatics diploma, or equivalent work experience in a survey technician role
- Proven experience in land surveying within construction or infrastructure projects is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with survey equipment such as total stations, GNSS RTK, laser scanners, and related tools.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD, CAD software, ArcGIS, and GIS applications for mapping and spatial analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large datasets effectively
- Construction experience, especially familiarity with construction staking and site layout procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong analytical skills to interpret complex survey data accurately.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting findings clearly.

Assets

- Mining experience, particularly surface mining, and familiarity with mine grids, pit surveys and working around active operations
- Transport Canada RPAS Pilot Certificate for Advanced Operations
- Familiarity with photogrammetry or LiDAR processing workflows
