PWL Wealth Management is a premier independent Canadian Wealth Management firm. Canadian based High Net Worth families entrust PWL to manage their investment portfolios on a discretionary basis and provide holistic financial advice for all facets of their lives.

Financial Planning, Tax and Estate services are delivered via PWL Conseil, and investment management is delivered via PWL Capital which is a Broker Dealer and CIRO member firm. Both PWL Conseil and PWL Capital are wholly owned subsidiaries of PWL Wealth Management, with more than 150 employees.

Position Summary The Controller is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of PWL's financial reporting and accounting operations.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance & Strategic Initiatives, the Controller oversees the day-to-day controllership function, including the general ledger, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, cash management, variance analysis and financial controls. The controller is responsible for managing the relationship with the auditors.

The Controller will play an important role in ensuring that PWL's financial information is accurate, well controlled, and useful for decision-making. The role will also work closely with internal stakeholders, external auditors, tax advisors and regulators.

This is a hands-on role suited to an accounting skilled who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with sound judgment, attention to detail, and an ability to improve processes in a growing organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
- Maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, financial controls,



and documentation appropriate for a regulated financial services environment.
- Coordinate financial information and reporting required for regulatory and statutory obligations, including CIRO requirements.
- Lead the day-to-day external audit process and coordinate with tax advisors on corporate tax, payroll-related and other statutory filings.
- Oversee cash management, reconciliations, payment controls, and support cash-flow forecasting and treasury activities.
- Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen controls, automate processes, improve reporting, and enhance the scalability and efficiency of the Finance function.

Qualifications & Experience

- CPA designation required
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
- Bilingualism in English and French is required
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in controllership or senior accounting role
- Experience in financial services, wealth management, investment management, or another regulated environment is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and financial reporting requirements
- Experience managing month-end and year-end close processes
- Experience with external audits and tax compliance
- Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting processes
- Experience with financial systems and accounting technology; experience with ERP implementations or integrations is an asset
- Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analysis capabilities
