The Role: Come join us as a Controller, Part-time (20 hours per week) on site with our team based in Richmond, BC.

Career Opportunity The Part-Time Controller (20 Hours per week) provides on-site, senior-level accounting expertise, financial oversight and technical guidance to support the Accounting & Finance team and Gentai’s continued growth.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Controller provides oversight and recommendations on financial reporting, accounting practices, internal controls and complex financial matters, while supporting effective and consistent financial operations across the department.

The Controller serves as a senior resource to the Accounting & Finance team, providing guidance on higher-level accounting matters and process improvements.

Key responsibilities will include, but not limited to, the following:

- Provide senior-level accounting guidance and oversight on financial reporting, reconciliations, period-end activities and complex accounting matters.
- Review financial records and reporting for accuracy, completeness and consistency, and provide guidance on matters escalated by the Accounting and Finance Managers.
- Support the Director of Finance and Accounting and Finance Managers with higher-level accounting matters and financial reporting requirements

Financial Controls, Systems & Operations

- Provides oversight and guidance on accounting systems, policies, procedures and internal controls, identifying opportunities to strengthen compliance,



accuracy and efficiency.
- Identify financial, reconciliation, data integration and process issues and provide guidance on appropriate solutions.
- Provide oversight and guidance on higher-level financial operations and matters escalated by the Accounting and Finance Managers.

Audit, Tax & Compliance

- Provide guidance and support for audit, tax and other external financial reporting requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, accountants, tax professionals and other advisors as required.
- Support compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements and established financial policies and procedures.

Financial Process Improvement

- Identify and improve financial workflows, processes, reporting and controls where appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary manual accounting and reporting work where appropriate.
- Support the continued development of scalable financial processes as the organization grows.

Finance Team Guidance

- Serve as a senior technical accounting resource to the Accounting & Finance team, providing guidance on complex and higher-level accounting matters.
- Support knowledge-sharing and consistent application of accounting practices across the Finance function.
- Provide guidance to Accounting & Finance Managers on escalated matters and support the development of effective solutions.

Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting

- Support departmental budgeting and forecasting by providing financial guidance and reviewing submissions prepared by the Accounting & Finance Managers for review by the Director of Finance.
- Monitor actual results against budgets and forecasts, identify significant variances, and provide financial analysis and recommendations to the Director of Finance.
- Support cash flow planning and forecasting by reviewing financial information and providing financial insights and recommendations.

Qualifications and Experience:





- · CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting qualification) strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field required
- Proven experience as a Controller, ideally in a private company within the financial services industry and/or a Mortgage Investment Corporation (MIC).
- 5+ years of Canadian accounting and finance experience as a Controller or in a progressively senior accounting or finance role, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Strong technical accounting, financial reporting, financial analysis and senior-level accounting guidance experience.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy across financial records and reporting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with proven experience managing competing priorities, multiple responsibilities and established deadlines.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
- Proven reliability, consistency and accountability in completing responsibilities accurately and on time.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience communicating effectively with financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel, with experience using computerized accounting systems.
- Experience maintaining organized electronic financial records and supporting documentation.
