Cook - Food Services

Full-Time | Permanent

$19.60 to $20.80 per hour

Location

Amberwood Suites Retirement Residence – Sudbury, Ontario

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Hospitality Manager, the Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals for residents in accordance with established menus, standardized recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements.

This is a hands-on production role focused on food quality, safety, and resident satisfaction within a retirement living environment.

Qualifications & Experience

- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate (required)Smart Serve Certification (required)
- Previous and relevant Cook experience required
- Experience in a Retirement Home, Long-Term Care, healthcare, or institutional setting considered an asset
- Post-secondary culinary training or Cook/Institutional Cook certification considered an asset
- Knowledge of HACCP, WHMIS,



Occupational Health & Safety, and sanitation standards

Skills & Abilities

- Strong scratch-cooking and food preparation skills
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and tools
- Good organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand English to follow recipes and safety procedures
- Bilingualism considered an asset

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a warm kitchen environment
- Ability to perform repetitive food preparation tasks

Schedule

Full-time hours.

- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Required health clearances as per public health and site policy
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
