Her Recovery Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.

About Her Recovery

Her Recovery provides bed-based addiction treatment for women, including mothers who may attend treatment with their children. Children attend daycare during weekday programming hours, allowing mothers to fully participate in treatment while remaining connected to their children.

We work with women who may have complex needs related to substance use, mental health, trauma, parenting, housing, relationships, and community supports. Our approach is trauma-informed, culturally respectful, strengths-based, and focused on helping women build practical skills and supports for recovery beyond treatment.

The Position

We are seeking an experienced Counselling Team Lead to provide day-to-day, on-site leadership to our counselling team while also participating directly in counselling and program delivery.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate will have strong counselling experience as well as demonstrated experience leading staff, developing programming, facilitating groups, and working with individuals with complex addiction and mental-health needs.

Her Recovery has a Clinical Supervisor who provides formal clinical supervision to counsellors, including individual clinical supervision and clinical consultation. The Counselling Team Lead is responsible for the day-to-day on-site leadership and coordination of the counselling team and program delivery and works collaboratively with the Clinical Supervisor and Assistant Director.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, mentorship, and support to the counselling team and participants in our care.
- Coordinate counselling priorities, participant needs, programming, and documentation.
- Maintain an active counselling caseload.
- Facilitate counselling, recovery, psychoeducational, and life-skills groups.
- Develop and improve counselling, recovery, and life-skills programming.
- Teach practical life skills related to healthy routines, emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, budgeting, parenting, community living, and other areas that support long-term stability.
- Participate in individualized treatment and recovery planning.

- Support participants experiencing concurrent substance-use and mental-health concerns.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation within professional scope and appropriately escalate medical, psychiatric, or safety concerns.
- Develop comprehensive post-treatment plans and assist participants in navigating mental-health, addiction, healthcare, housing, financial, parenting, employment, education, and community resources.
- Coordinate referrals and support continuity of care following treatment.
- Work collaboratively with the Assistant Director, Psychiatrist, Clinical Supervisor, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Ensure counselling documentation is accurate, professional, timely, and complete.
- Support continuous improvement of Her Recovery's counselling and participant programming.

Trauma-Informed & Culturally Respectful Practice The successful candidate must be able to work effectively with women experiencing significant vulnerability and complexity while maintaining empathy, consistency, accountability, and strong professional boundaries. Our approach recognizes the impact that trauma, intergenerational trauma, discrimination, systemic barriers, family disruption, and other life experiences can have on addiction and recovery.

The Counselling Team Lead is expected to practice cultural humility, respect participants' individual identities and experiences, and support access to cultural, spiritual, traditional, or community supports identified as meaningful by the participant.
