Position Summary:
The Cultivation Lead serves as a senior technical team member within the cultivation department and is responsible for frontline workflow coordination, training support, and execution excellence. The Cultivation Lead works alongside Cultivation Associates to ensure cultivation activities are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards.
The Cultivation Lead supports daily execution of cultivation plans by providing technical guidance, reinforcing training, monitoring work quality, identifying issues, and communicating operational needs to Supervisors and Managers. This role serves as a development position for future leadership opportunities while maintaining a strong focus on technical cultivation excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Frontline Coordination & Execution Support
- Support daily cultivation activities including planting, transplanting, pruning, defoliation, irrigation, crop maintenance, harvesting, sanitation, and integrated pest management activities.
- Assist the Cultivation Supervisor in coordinating workflow and task execution throughout the day.
- Help ensure assigned tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and according to established procedures.
- Serve as a resource for Associates by answering questions and providing technical guidance.
- Escalate operational concerns, staffing challenges, or resource limitations to the Cultivation Supervisor. Support successful execution of daily cultivation priorities.
Training & Employee Development
- Assist with onboarding and training new Cultivation Associates.
- Demonstrate proper cultivation techniques and reinforce standard operating procedures.
- Provide day-to-day coaching and technical support to team members.
- Identify training gaps and communicate development opportunities to Supervisors.
- Promote a positive learning workplace focused on continuous improvement. Support ongoing training initiatives and procedural updates.
Quality Assurance & Crop Health
- Monitor cultivation activities and work quality throughout assigned work areas.
- Identify and report concerns related to pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, irrigation issues, or environmental conditions.
- Support implementation of quality control standards and cultivation best practices.
- Verify assigned tasks are completed according to company standards.
- Assist Supervisors with crop observations and operational inspections. Promote consistency and attention to detail across cultivation activities.
Documentation & Communication
- Complete and maintain cultivation records accurately and on time.
- Support completion of operational forms and documentation.
- Report deviations, observations, and operational concerns promptly.
- Communicate effectively with Associates, Leads, Supervisors, and Managers. Provide feedback regarding workflow improvements and operational challenges.
Equipment, Sanitation & Facilities
- Support proper use and maintenance of cultivation equipment and facilities.
- Ensure cultivation areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with sanitation standards.
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance needs, and facility concerns. Reinforce Good Production Practices (GPP) and workplace safety standards.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work collaboratively with Supervisors, Managers, and fellow Leads to achieve department objectives.
- Support implementation of process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Share observations and recommendations that contribute to cultivation success. Promote teamwork, accountability, and professional conduct within the department.
Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned to support cultivation and company objectives.
