About Us

We're Royal Distributing, and we've been a leader in the Canadian powersports industry for the past 36 years. We provide our customers with quality products and top service to keep them riding their snowmobiles, ATVs, motorcycles, dirt bikes and more. We're embarking on the next phase of our growth, and we want you to join us!

The Opportunity

Royal Distributing and Revco operate a modern Snowflake data warehouse structured in a medallion architecture, fed by an ETL platform that ingests from a wide range of source systems across e-commerce, retail POS, ERP, marketing and customer service. The warehouse powers our BI reporting and our customer analytics program.

We're looking for an engineer who is genuinely interested in what the data means, not only in moving it.

The tables you build get used. Marketing runs campaigns off them, merchandising makes buying decisions from them, and the executive team reports on them. So we want someone who asks what a model will be used for before building it, and who notices the interesting things in the data along the way. When you find that omnichannel customers carry meaningfully higher lifetime value than single-channel customers, we want you to bring it up, not just ship the table and move on.

We also want someone who doesn't trust their own pipeline until they've proven it. Every number we publish should tie back to the source system. If a revenue figure in a dashboard doesn't match the ERP, that's our problem to find before a stakeholder does

Responsibilities

- Run and extend our ETL pipelines: build new jobs, maintain schedules, handle failures and monitor source freshness

- Build and maintain integrations to new source systems

- Write silver-layer transformations in Snowflake SQL — cleaning, conforming and deduplicating source data

- Own data quality end to end: reconcile warehouse figures against source systems, build validation and testing into pipelines, and document lineage so any number can be traced to its origin

- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between reports, dashboards and source systems

- Build and maintain certified data sources for Analytics and business users

- Support our customer identity resolution program with data preparation, validation and match-quality analysis

- Contribute to gold-layer marts for customer and sales reporting, working with marketing and analytics stakeholders to understand how the data will be used

Qualifications

- 2–4 years in data engineering, analytics engineering or a strong BI/data analyst role with pipeline responsibility

- Strong SQL: joins, window functions, aggregation, incremental patterns

- Python for data transformation and scripting

- Hands-on experience with a cloud data warehouse; Snowflake preferred

- Production experience with a modern ETL or data orchestration platform

- Comfortable working in a medallion or layered warehouse and understands why the layers exist

- A demonstrated approach to data validation and reconciliation, and the discipline to apply it consistently

- Able to explain technical work to non-technical stakeholders, and to ask valuable questions about business requirements

- Git-based workflow

Strong assets

- Retail or e-commerce data: multi-channel orders, POS, returns, product hierarchies

- Customer analytics: segmentation, RFM, cohort or retention analysis

- Experience building data models for a BI/visualization platform

- Familiarity with e-commerce, ERP or marketing automation data structures

- Experience with a SQL-based transformation framework

Additional Information

- Salary Range: $70,000 to $75,000

- This is a full-time position scheduled from Monday to Friday. You may be needed outside regular business hours when required.

- This position is hybrid out of our head office in Guelph, Ontario.
