Dealership Controller - Import Brand Full-time
We're a growing, family-run automotive group looking for an experienced Controller for one of our import-brand dealerships. As a smaller ownership group, we offer direct access to the owners and a straightforward reporting structure. You'll lead the accounting department, work closely with dealership management and have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the business without layers of corporate bureaucracy.
As the company grows, there is an opportunity to move into a broader role overseeing other controllers within the group. We're looking for someone who keeps the books current, delivers accurate financial statements on time and leads a dependable accounting team. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, vehicle inventory and deal posting.
- Complete month-end and year-end reporting, including manufacturer financial statements and management reports.
- Keep bank, floorplan, inventory and balance sheet reconciliations current, and resolve outstanding items.
- Manage cash flow, receivables, payables, banking and floorplan requirements.
- Work with management on budgets, forecasts, expense control and departmental profitability.
- Maintain internal controls and accounting procedures, and address accounting issues as they arise.
- Ensure tax filings, payroll remittances and other reporting obligations are completed accurately and on time.
- Hire,
train and supervise accounting staff, with clear responsibilities and deadlines. Work with external accountants, lenders and manufacturer representatives.
- Identify and implement practical uses of AI and automation to improve accounting efficiency, streamline reporting, and reduce manual work.
Qualifications
- Accounting leadership experience in a franchised automotive dealership, including supervision of an accounting team.
- A solid understanding of dealership financial statements, departmental accounting, vehicle inventory and floorplan financing.
- Experience managing month-end reporting, reconciliations and accounting discrepancies.
- Organized, detail-oriented and comfortable working directly with management and ownership.
- Strong Excel skills.
- PBS knowledge is an asset.
- Import-brand experience and a CPA designation are assets.
