Summary:

Ontario Fire Academy is looking recruit a highly knowledgeable and experienced CFAA Technician to join our academic faculty, as a Director of Training in charge of overseeing the CFAA Fire Alarm Technician Training program, at our Campus located in Mono, Ontario.

The ideal candidate will have more than 15 years of experience in fire alarm installation, verification, inspection, and service, with significant service/troubleshooting time, and have a current CFAA Technician Registration.

Key Duties - the duties of this role will include:

- Work in collaboration with CFAA to run CFAA Technician training programming at the OFA campus
- Teach hands-on troubleshooting sessions to groups of fire alarm technicians and trainees
- Demonstrate diagnostic method: symptom, isolation, verification, correction, documentation
- Coach students individually at the bench; adjust pace for mixed experience levels
- Model safe work practices, including working in occupied buildings and handling systems in test/bypass
- Design and insert realistic faults on conventional and addressable platforms: ground faults,



opens and shorts on Class A and Class B circuits, SLC/loop communication failures, intermittent and environmental faults, EOL and NAC issues, battery and power supply problems, annunciator and transponder trouble, voice/emergency communication faults, and interface faults with sprinkler, supervisory, and ancillary devices
- Keep course content current with CAN/ULC 524, 536, 537, 561, S1001, the Ontario Fire Code, Ontario Building Code , and Canadian Electrical Code Section 32
- Have Integrated Systems Testing experience
- Posses (ideally, but not required) a UL Integrated Systems Testing Coordinator (ITC) credential
- Develop handouts, fault worksheets, and practical assessments
- Track attendance and complete records needed for CFAA continuing education credit
- Gather student feedback and revise content each cycle

LICENSES AND/OR SKILLED ACCREDITATION:

- Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) Technician
- UL Integrated Systems Testing Coordinator (ITC) credential is considered an asset
- Drivers license is required

Pay: $120,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
