Position Overview

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Operations & Yard Assistant to join our Maple Ridge Operations team.

This is a hands-on position combining dock operations, forklift operation, material handling, and general yard labour. The main responsibility is to support our dock, where incoming and outgoing metal shipments are received, unloaded, organized, weighed, tagged, and prepared for storage or shipment.

When dock work is limited, the employee will support general yard operations, including traffic control, cleaning loading areas, assisting other operators, and operating other equipment if trained. The employee will also learn to identify, sort, and grade different types of metals.

Forklift experience is a strong asset, especially 2–3 years of experience, but it is not mandatory. We are willing to train someone who has a positive attitude, learns quickly, follows instructions, and is willing to take on different responsibilities.





Key Responsibilities:

- Load and unload metal materials from containers and trucks.
- Operate a forklift safely once trained and approved.
- Weigh, tag, organize, and stage incoming and outgoing materials.
- Assist with receiving and shipping activities at the dock.
- Wrap and move materials, organize pallets, and perform general yard labour.
- Assist with traffic control and guide trucks safely through the yard.
- Communicate regularly with the Logistics and operations team, including shipment and truck updates through WhatsApp.
- Learn the basic identification and classification of different metal materials.
- Support other Operations activities when dock work is completed.

Requirements
- Positive attitude and strong willingness to learn.
- Forklift experience is a strong asset but not required; training can be provided.
- Able to learn new procedures quickly and work safely.
- Good English communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, drivers, and Logistics.
- Comfortable using basic technology and WhatsApp for daily work communication.
- Comfortable performing physical, hands-on work and lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Comfortable working outdoors around heavy equipment, trucks, dust, dirt, and noise.




- Valid driver's licence and reliable personal vehicle are required. The Maple Ridge yard is not conveniently accessible by public transportation.
- Must be willing to occasionally travel to our Richmond location for training or operational support.
- Must be open to working Saturdays and overtime when required.
- IMMEDIATE AVAILABILITY IS PREFERRED.

Work Location & Schedule

- Pay: CA$30.00 per hour
- Schedule: Monday to Friday - 7:30 AM-4:30 PM (Maple Ridge)
- Work Locations: Maple Ridge, BC (primary) Richmond, BC (Occasional)
- Primary Location: Most shifts are expected to be in Maple Ridge however, Richmond attendance may occasionally be required for training or operational support.
- Saturday Availability: Candidates must be open to working Saturdays when additional operational support is required.
