Aster Landscaping is looking for a reliable, hardworking, and experienced Landscaper / Crew Lead to join our team on a casual, on-call basis. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in quality work, can work independently, and is comfortable leading by example at customer properties.

Location: Burnaby, Vancouver, Coquitlam, Surrey, and nearby areas

Job type: Casual, on-call, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time position based on reliability, performance, and business needs

Pay: CA$22.00–$28.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level

Hours: Based on customer bookings, weather, and business needs. Work is typically available Monday to Friday, with early mornings, occasional weekends, and overtime as required. There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours.

Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, and support crew members on daily landscaping projects.
- Complete lawn mowing, edging, trimming, hedge shaping, and basic pruning.
- Perform garden-bed cleanups, weed removal, planting, mulching, and soil installation.
- Assist with sod installation, including soil preparation, grading, laying sod, and cleanup.
- Load and unload tools, equipment, and landscaping materials.
- Clean up branches, green waste, and job sites at the end of each day.
- Safely operate lawn mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, ladders, and other landscaping equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area.
- Provide professional and respectful service at customers’ properties.
- Communicate effectively with customers, crew members, and supervisors.
- Help ensure all work meets company quality and safety standards.

Requirements




- Previous professional landscaping experience is required; 2+ years is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of lawn care, plant care, pruning, hedge trimming, and general property maintenance.
- Confident and safe using landscaping tools and equipment.
- Able to complete work neatly with limited supervision.
- Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Physically fit and able to work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Able to lift, carry, and move up to 45 kg (100 lbs), and perform the physical requirements of the role.
- Comfortable using ladders when required.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence is required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Assets
- Experience driving a truck with a trailer — an asset, but not required.
- Sod installation and ground-preparation experience.
- Experience supervising or training a landscaping crew.
- Knowledge or experience in hardscaping.
- Experience with pressure washing and gutter cleaning.
- Experience installing or decorating with Christmas lights.
- Horticulture diploma, BCLNA certification, apprenticeship, or trade qualification.
