We are seeking a reliable, hands-on and resourceful Facilities & Building Maintenance Technician to join our team at a boutique hospitality/private-club property in Toronto.This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, has strong practical problem-solving skills and takes pride in keeping a property well maintained, clean and in excellent condition.Responsibilities
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs throughout the property
- Complete painting, touch-ups and minor drywall repairs
- Address minor plumbing issues and general repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair small equipment and appliances, including hair dryers, vacuums and similar items
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laundry-room ducts and equipment
- Inspect the property regularly and identify maintenance issues before they become larger problems
- Complete preventative maintenance and general upkeep
- Repair or replace fixtures, hardware and other items as required
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Coordinate with external contractors when repairs require specialized or licensed trades
- Respond to maintenance requests from management and staff in a timely and skilled manner
- Maintain basic records of completed repairs and maintenance
- Assist with other general property maintenance duties as required
- Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in building maintenance, property maintenance, facilities, hospitality maintenance, construction or a related field
- Strong practical knowledge of general repairs and troubleshooting
- Experience with drywall,
painting and basic plumbing is preferred
- Comfortable working with hand and power tools
- Able to identify problems and determine appropriate solutions
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable, punctual and organized
- Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Professional and courteous when working around guests, members and staff
- Able to safely perform physical maintenance duties, including lifting, bending, climbing ladders and working in different areas of the property
- Trade certification is an asset but is not required for a qualified generalist

- Supervise maintenance activities performed by team members or external contractors, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
- Perform welding tasks as needed for repairs or modifications of equipment or structural components.
- Interpret technical schematics and wiring diagrams to diagnose system faults accurately.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance operations.
- Lead facility inspections to identify potential hazards or areas for improvement; implement corrective actions swiftly.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing internal client requests efficiently and professionally.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, parts used, and system updates for accountability and future reference.
Experience
- Proven supervisory experience in facilities or manufacturing maintenance environments.
- Strong electrical experience with knowledge of electrical systems, schematics, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Hands-on experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) used in manufacturing or building automation systems.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for scheduling and documentation.
- Skilled in welding techniques for repair or fabrication tasks.
- Mechanical knowledge related to machinery, HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and other building infrastructure.
- Experience reading technical schematics and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Background in facilities maintenance within manufacturing settings is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership abilities combined with customer service skills to foster teamwork and effective communication in fast-paced environments.
