About our Client

Our client is a Canadian family-owned and operated agricultural company operating four advanced poultry sites. Our mission is to produce high-quality, ethically raised poultry and hatching eggs through sustainable, data-driven farming practices. We build long-term value for our community, our industry partners, and our team members.

Our Core Values:

- Owner’s Mindset: We take direct accountability, show commercial initiative, and manage our operations with long-term stewardship.
- Food Safety & Quality: We adhere to rigorous standards to deliver premium, biosecure hatching eggs.
- Animal Welfare: We prioritize humane, ethical care, sound flock stewardship, and low-stress handling.
- Ethical & Responsible: We lead with operational integrity, transparency, and environmental respect.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: We continuously refine feed, environmental, and labour efficiencies.

Role Summary The Farm Manager serves as the operational and strategic leader of our broiler breeder facility. Combining commercial acumen with precision flock management, this role balances data analytics, forward workforce planning, and team leadership. While dedicated farm support personnel execute daily manual tasks, the Farm Manager must maintain comprehensive working knowledge of all barn duties while focusing primarily on flock performance, cost discipline, and driving yield metrics.

Key Responsibilities

Flock Analytics, Feed Management & Production Performance

- Drive Commercial Targets: Optimize flock performance metrics including peak production, hatchability percentages, feed conversion ratios (FCR), and mortality control to clear performance hurdles and maximize profitability.
- Flock Weight & Uniformity Charting: Systematically track, chart, and analyze flock growth, weekly body weight profiles,

and flock uniformity against breeder breed standards.
- Nutritional Modulation: Calculate and execute precise daily feed allocations and adjust artificial lighting schedules/intensity curves to drive reproductive maturity, lay persistency, and egg size control.
- Hatching Egg Quality: Oversee egg collection workflows, sanitation standards, nest box hygiene, egg room cooling/humidity profiles, and packing integrity to ensure top hatchability standards
- Biosecurity Enforcement: Maintain uncompromising biosecurity protocols with zero tolerance for deviations; lead pre- and post-flock sanitation and turnaround audits.

Operational Planning, Labour Scheduling & Leadership

- Workforce Planning & Scheduling: Forecast operational labour needs weeks in advance; build and maintain balanced staff rosters
- Team Leadership & Development: Supervise, train, and coach the Farm Support team; foster an accountable, high-performance team culture
- Contingency Capability: Maintain end-to-end fluency with barn tasks; provide hands-on coverage for labour duties (e.g., equipment operation, sorting, emergency floor work) during critical operational surges, staff absences, or urgent barn demands.
- Multi-Site Operational Continuity: Act as designated operational back-up to the Owner-Operator, providing interim supervisory oversight and emergency escalation coverage across sibling farm sites during planned absences.

Facility Oversight, Audits & Preventive Maintenance

- Automated Climate Oversight: Continuously evaluate and fine-tune computer-controlled environmental systems (ventilation velocity, static pressure, heating/cooling pads, air inlets, relative humidity).
- Audit-Ready Compliance: Maintain real-time digital documentation to satisfy regulations and provincial poultry board standards.
- Site Stewardship: Coordinate with supports to plan preventive maintenance schedules,

troubleshoot mechanical/electrical disruptions swiftly, and ensure site cleanliness and grounds upkeep across all seasons.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

- Education & Business Acumen: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Agricultural Management, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent progressive commercial farm management experience will be evaluated.
- Poultry / Breeder Experience: 3+ years in commercial poultry operations, with direct experience in broiler breeder or hatching egg production strongly favoured.
- Analytical & Data Capability: Demonstrated skill in interpreting flock growth curves, feed allocation charts, mortality trends, and financial/production dashboards to make proactive operational adjustments.
- Supervisory Track Record: 1+ years leading, scheduling, and developing operational or agricultural teams.
- Practical Versatility: Functional mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely operate farm machinery (e.g., skid steers, pressure systems) and quickly step into floor workflows when necessary.
- Biosecurity Compliance: Absolute personal commitment to biosecurity protocols; mandatory agreement confirming zero personal off-site contact with backyard poultry, pet birds, or waterfowl.
- Licensing: Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with a clean record.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

- Supervisory / Analytical Balance: Work split between operational oversight, biosecure poultry barns, site reviews, and computerized data analysis/planning.
- Physical Capability: Capability to walk barns, bend, crouch, handle weights up to 50 lbs, and execute hands-on barn support when operational contingencies arise.
- Emergency Availability: Rotational on-call responsibility to monitor and respond to automated environmental/power/equipment alarms outside standard working hours

Perks

- Comprehensive Benefits: Extended Health, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Drug coverage.
- Additional Benefits: Overtime pay eligibility, professional development programs, paid time off, Employee Referral Bonus Program

Pay: From $75,000.00 per year

Benefits
