Contract: 3-months, with the possibility of being extended or going permanent
Hourly Rate: $27 - $32, based on experience
Location: Victoria area, various job sites
Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Field Technician, Service specializing in Cabinetry and Millwork to join our team. In this role, you will be the hands-on expert responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining custom cabinetry, millwork, and related woodwork in various client locations. Your expertise will ensure that each project meets our high standards of quality, precision, and craftsmanship.
Reports to: Field Operations Manager/Field Foremen
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Finishing
- Install, adjust, and scribe cabinets, kicks, fillers, gables, and handles.
- Perform minor finishing repairs and adjustments.
- Create jigs as needed for accurate handle installation.
- Ensure all units meet contractual quality standards and are left clean and free of debris.
Site Coordination & Communication
- Work collaboratively with the installation team and other trades.
- Communicate supply needs, potential challenges, and site issues promptly.
- Maintain positive client relations with Site Superintendents, owners, and trades.
- Attend site meetings when required.
Documentation & Tracking
- Accurately track installed units, site changes, rectifications, mileage, and expenses.
- Ensure adherence to BCM quality and safety standards (including COR, work-alone, and protected driving policies).
- Maintain required software proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel; Closeout experience is an asset).
- Assist in developing standard operating procedures when needed.
Logistics & Materials Management
- Ensure job sites are stocked with required installation supplies.
- Assist with receiving and overseeing cabinet deliveries.
- Deliver parts and supplies to job sites when required.
- Maintain assigned vehicles according to internal procedures.
Customer Service & Scheduling
- Schedule homeowner and warranty issues when required.
- Support multiple project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives.
Teamwork & Professionalism
- Demonstrate strong work ethic, reliable communication, and team-oriented behavior.
- Complete additional project-related tasks as assigned.
Education & Certifications · Some secondary school education is usually required, post-secondary considered an asset
Experience
· Minimum two years of multi-unit cabinetry and millwork installation experience
· Proven ability to track work in a meticulous fashion
Skills & Competencies
· Multi-unit cabinetry and millwork installation experience preferred
· Valid BC Driver’s license preferred where driving for business is a requirement
· Working with hand tools
· Working with full suite of MS Office and Smartsheets
· Excellent in communication, teamwork, problem‑solving
Compliance & Training Requirements
· BC Driver’s License if required for position
· WHMIS
· Anti‑Violence / Respectful Workplace
· Valid Work Permit (if applicable)
· English language skills appropriate to the role
· Adherence to WorkSafeBC requirements, including recover‑at‑work practices
· Adherence to internal manuals and standard operating procedures
· Steel-toed footwear
Working Conditions
Each job site has varied conditions. Finishing trades work in units with doors and windows (insulated) but may not be complete to finish level including electrical, floors, fixtures and fittings and paint. The work is mostly conducted during site hours, which may vary within each job location. Occasional weekend work and travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
Project and site technicians are occasionally asked to assist in the movement of product around site. The criteria for lifting is up to 50lbs before it becomes a two-person lift (noting, this work should be designed to casual labor, anything that is done by the Project Manager should be the exception, not the rule). Installers are generally required to climb stairs on a frequent basis when elevators are not available in buildings and must be.
Installers are required to kneel, bend, and crouch to install various cabinet types.
It is incumbent on the site staff to take micro breaks every two hours as mandated by internal policy.
Due to the operational requirements of the job, physician’s note of physical capability may be requested at any time.
Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
