We do this by uniting martial schools and supporting their operations through centralized support functions, and scalable systems , shared knowledge, and cutting-edge technology to empower every club to deliver exceptional instruction, outstanding service, and lasting community impact.

We currently operate schools in B.C., Alberta and Ontario, and expect to continue expanding through acquisitions and building of new locations.

As the company grows, we are building a centralized finance and accounting function to support our schools with finance and administration services, and provide management with accurate, timely financial information.

We are looking for a highly organized and hands-on Finance and Accounting Manager to take ownership of our day-to-day accounting and financial administration across the Growth Studios group.

The Chance

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys keeping financial operations organized, accurate, and running smoothly.

You will manage the day-to-day accounting across multiple companies and locations, coordinate month-end reporting, work with school managers, and act as the primary operational accounting contact between Growth Studios and our external accounting and advisory partners.

This role is ideal for someone who has strong accounting fundamentals, enjoys improving processes, and wants to help build the financial infrastructure of a rapidly growing company.

You will be responsible for:

- Day-to-day accounting operations
- Payroll and tax compliance across provinces
- Multi-entity consolidation
- Cash flow management
- Building scalable systems and controls

Key ResponsibilitiesDay-to-Day Accounting

- Maintain accurate books and records across Growth Studios and its operating companies
- Record and categorize transactions
- Complete bank and credit-card reconciliations
- Maintain general ledgers and supporting schedules
- Ensure accounting records are current and properly documented

Accounts Payable

- Receive, review and organize vendor invoices
- Coordinate invoice approvals
- Prepare and process vendor payments
- Maintain vendor records
- Track outstanding payables and upcoming obligations

Accounts Receivable

- Monitor amounts owing to the company
- Record and reconcile incoming payments
- Follow up on outstanding balances when required
- Assist with payment and revenue reconciliation across locations

Payroll & Employee Administration





- Coordinate payroll processing across Growth Studios companies, including instructors and administrative staff at the club level (hourly and salaried)
- Maintain payroll records
- Administer employee changes, deductions, reimbursements and related administrative matters, including T4s, T4As, ROEs
- Ensure accurate and timely remittances to CRA
- Oversee provincial employment compliance (e.g., vacation pay, statutory holiday rules)
- Ensure compliance with ESA requirements across provinces (if multi-provincial)
- Work with external payroll providers where applicable

Month-End Close & Reporting

- Oversee and manage the monthly accounting close process
- Complete reconciliations and identify discrepancies
- Prepare monthly financial packages for management
- Support consolidated reporting across Growth Studios locations
- Help management understand financial performance by location

Multi-Company & Intercompany Accounting

- Maintain accurate accounting across multiple legal entities
- Record and reconcile intercompany transactions
- Track management fees, shared expenses and other allocations
- Help ensure consistent accounting practices across the organization

Tax & Compliance Support

- Maintain records required for GST/HST and other tax filings
- Prepare information for external accountants and advisors
- Assist with year-end reporting and tax preparation
- Ensure financial records and supporting documentation are properly maintained

Acquisition Integration

As Growth Studios acquires additional martial arts schools, you will help integrate each school's financial operations into the Growth Studios platform.

This may include

- Accounting system setup
- Chart of accounts standardization
- Banking setup and reconciliation
- Payroll transition
- Vendor migration
- Accounts payable processes
- Financial reporting setup
- Historical financial cleanup
- Coordination with sellers and existing accounting providers

Financial Systems & Process Improvement

- Develop standardized accounting procedures across Growth Studios
- Improve financial controls and documentation
- Help automate repetitive accounting processes
- Maintain organized digital financial records
- Work with management to improve reporting and financial visibility

Working With External Advisors

Growth Studios works with external accounting, tax and advisory professionals for higher-level financial reporting, tax, corporate structuring and other specialized matters.





The Finance and Accounting Manager will act as a key internal point of contact and help ensure our external advisors receive accurate, organized and timely financial information.

The goal is for this role to own the day-to-day accounting function internally while external advisors focus on higher-level accounting, tax and strategic matters.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with:

- 5 years of bookkeeping, accounting or finance operations experience
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting fundamentals
- Experience managing accounting for multiple companies or locations
- Strong bank and credit-card reconciliation skills
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience with payroll administration
- Experience preparing monthly financial statements or management reports
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Xero or similar accounting software
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Experience working with external accountants
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Experience with multi-location businesses, franchise systems, healthcare, fitness, martial arts, hospitality, retail or other location-based businesses would be an asset.

A CPA designation is not required. We are more interested in practical accounting experience, accuracy, organization and the ability to take ownership.

- Accurate and up-to-date books across all operating companies
- A consistent monthly close process
- Reliable monthly reporting by location
- Clean bank, credit-card and intercompany reconciliations
- Standardized accounting procedures across the organization
- A repeatable financial onboarding process for acquisitions
- Strong coordination with external accounting and advisory partners
- Management having clear visibility into the financial performance of every school

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
