Maple Villa is an independent 93-bed licensed long-term care home located in Burlington, Ontario. Maple Villa is fully accredited by Accreditation Canada and has been providing quality resident and family-focused care since 1971. We continually strive to make a difference, to provide Person and Family-centered care and provide services where safety is a priority.
Our interdisciplinary team are committed about the care for our residents, staff, families and volunteers and are consistently reflecting on practices and areas of improvement to provide exceptional, individualized, culturally competent care to our residents and maintain a strong and dedicated health care team.
We are opening a new Home in January 2027 that will support 256 residents in our community! The new Maple Villa is located on Palladium Way in north Burlington.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Food and Nutrition Manager, the Food Service Supervisor coordinates and supervises the daily operations of Food Services, including food preparation, staff supervision, inventory, and enforcing safety and sanitation standards under the Manager’s direction. The incumbent will ensure that continuous quality improvement outcomes approved for the Home are met or exceeded, and demonstrate dedication to professional values and the mission, vision and values of the Home. Qualifications
· Current Membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM).
· Education in Nutrition, Dietetics and/or Food and Nutrition Management.
· Experience working in long-term care dietary departments with a strong background in quantity food production, food service operations, clinical nutrition, Meal Suite, menu planning, ordering, procurement and staff supervision.
· General knowledge of nutrition and a basic understanding of therapeutic diets to support resident-specific dietary needs.
· Proven leadership abilities with experience in supervising staff and managing labour relations effectively.
· Thorough knowledge of:
Health and safety protocols
Infection prevention and control standards
Safe food handling and sanitation practices in healthcare settings.
Familiarity with relevant legislation, including:
Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2021 and Ontario Regulation 246/22
Occupational Health and Safety Act
Employment Standards Act
Human Rights Code and other applicable labour laws.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Communication & Reporting
Maintains regular communication with the Food & Nutrition Manager to report concerns, share updates, and support departmental alignment.
· Departmental Leadership
Provides hands-on leadership to ensure high-quality nutritional care and a resident-centered approach to meal service, fostering a solutions-focused environment.
· Staff Supervision & Development
Assists in supervising dietary staff, including training, coaching, and performance evaluation to promote team engagement and professional growth.
· Education & Training Collaboration
Partners with the Food & Nutrition Manager to develop and update dietary education materials and in-service programs; facilitates training for dietary and interdisciplinary staff.
· Daily Operations Oversight
Conducts daily inspections of kitchen and serveries to proactively identify and resolve operational issues, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
· Meal Preparation & Service Supervision
Oversees the preparation and delivery of all meals and nourishments, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to dietary standards.
· Inventory & Procurement Management
Manages ordering and inventory of food, supplies, and equipment to maintain adequate stock levels and support uninterrupted service.
· Clinical Documentation & Assessments
Ensures resident profiles are accurate and up to date, including timely updates of Registered Dietitian (RD) reports and clinical assessments.
· Menu Planning & Customization
Coordinates bi-annual seasonal menu changes, daily menu adjustments, and special event menus to reflect resident preferences and nutritional needs. Collaborates with FNM for this process
· Production Monitoring
Monitors food production levels, adjusting for shortages or excess to minimize waste and ensure effective resource use.
· Compliance & Quality Control
Verifies completion of temperature logs, preventative maintenance, chemical (PPM) logs, and daily cleaning schedules to uphold safety and sanitation standards.
· Audit & Standards Enforcement
Performs regular audits of meal service and kitchen operations to ensure duties are completed and standards are consistently met.
· Resident Engagement
Participates in Resident Food Committee meetings to gather feedback, address concerns, and enhance the dining experience.

· Must ensure compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
· Protects own health and health of others by adopting safe work practices, reporting unsafe conditions immediately and attending all relevant in-services regarding occupational health and safety
· Follows all roles and responsibilities for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
