Dispatcher
Location: Office-based (Delta, BC)
Positions Available:
- Full-Time: 40 hours per week,4 Days On, 3 Days Off
About Us Roadway Towing is committed to providing safe, prompt, and professional towing services. Our towing and recovery team has served the Delta and Greater Vancouver Area for over 35 years. We proudly provide services to retail customers, City of Delta, Delta Police, RCMP, BCAA, and other roadside assistance providers.
About the Role
We are seeking experienced dispatchers who work well in a team, manage competing priorities, and communicate confidently in a fast-paced environment. The role includes coordinating drivers, responding to service requests, and releasing impounded vehicles. Because some customers may be upset or frustrated, the successful candidate must remain calm, respectful, and professional while following company procedures.
Dispatchers are central to the safety of our drivers, the quality of our customer service, and the efficiency of our daily operations. We are looking for individuals who take ownership of their work, communicate clearly, follow established procedures, and are open to continuous learning and new technology.
Responsibilities
- Receive service requests from customers by phone, email, or other electronic methods; gather and record all necessary details accurately.
- Follow established procedures when receiving, documenting, prioritizing, and dispatching service calls.
- Assign appropriate drivers and vehicles for each call and dispatch promptly using radio, telephone, and digital tools.
- Track operator movements and ensure timely dispatch of calls.
- Prioritize calls based on urgency and nature of service.
- Maintain a friendly and professional relationship with drivers to ensure compliance, even in emergency situations.
- Keep accurate dispatch logs and plan routes to minimize cost.
- Handle the release of impounded vehicles.
- Engage with customers in a qualified manner, including handling angry or upset customers calmly and respectfully.
- Process cash, invoices, and payments for impound releases.
Qualifications
- Customer service experience: 3 year (Preferred)
- Comfortable dealing with angry customers and stressful situations.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to retain information.
- Excellent communication skills, both in person and via telephone/email.
- Computer proficiency and ability to learn new systems.
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced office environment.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently within company policies.
- Geographical knowledge of the Lower Mainland.
- Previous dispatch experience preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check.
Schedule & Availability
- This position offers a four-day workweek with three days off, with an hourly wage of $23–$26 based on experience.
- Must be available to work weekends and some holidays.
- Office-based position (not remote).
