About the Position
Northwest Petroleum Equipment is seeking a dependable, safety-minded General Labourer to assist licensed petroleum mechanics with the installation, maintenance, and repair of petroleum equipment. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who works well outdoors, follows instructions carefully, and takes pride in completing physical work safely and efficiently. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist petroleum mechanics with equipment installation, maintenance, testing, and repair.
· Load, unload, move, and organize tools, materials, and equipment.
· Prepare work areas by digging, cleaning, measuring, and setting up barriers or safety equipment.
· Use hand and power tools under the direction of a qualified mechanic or supervisor.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
· Follow company procedures, site rules, and all health, safety, and environmental requirements.
· Complete basic inspections and immediately report hazards, damage, spills, or equipment concerns.
· Travel to customer and project sites as required.
· Perform other general labour duties that support the field team.
Qualifications
· Valid driver’s licence.
· Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying up to 50lbs and working in varied weather conditions.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
· Strong attendance, punctuality, and attention to safety.
· Willingness to travel and work occasional overtime, evenings, or weekends when required.
· Experience in construction, mechanical work, fuel systems, piping, excavation, or equipment installation is an asset.
· Current safety certificates such as WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Working at Heights, or confined-space training are assets.
Working Conditions
This position involves work at active commercial and industrial sites. Duties may include standing for extended periods, lifting, bending, climbing, working around equipment, and working outdoors in changing weather. Required personal protective equipment must be worn at all times.
