Ecom North is hiring one person to run our content. This is a creative role, and a lot of it happens in person and on camera. You'll make the videos, write the copy, run the social channels and the email, host at our events, interview founders, and build an audience of ecommerce founders. You'll be one of the faces of Ecom North. You'll work directly with our CEO and cofounders.
About Ecom North
We run summits and events all over Canada, US, and Asia. A few thousand founders come through our events every year. Our content hasn't kept pace with that, which is why this role exists.
The job
- On camera and on stage. MC our events, interview founders and speakers, host recaps. You need to be comfortable and natural in front of people and a lens.
- Short-form. Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and LinkedIn video cut from the long-form and from our events, plus carousels and graphics. One shoot should feed every channel.
- Long-form. A YouTube channel and, likely, a podcast: founder interviews, the best sessions from our events, and the series we build in public. You plan the shows, host or produce them, and own the release schedule.
- Running every channel day to day: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn. The posting schedule, comments, DMs, and the numbers.
- Writing the emails. Event launches, membership campaigns and a monthly newsletter.
- Documenting the company itself. We're going to build in public: what it takes to run and scale an events and community business, shown as it happens. You lead that.
Build a brand with us
We're also launching a DTC brand from scratch, in public, with our community watching and weighing in. You'd run the series from day one, which means you learn how a brand gets built from the beginning. You'll also have time each week to build your own audience, and whatever you build stays yours.
Who you'd work with
Our founding team, with decades of business experience,
has built and run companies that together have generated hundreds of millions in revenue. You'd work with them directly, not through layers. If you like talking to founders, want to support the next generation of entrepreneurship in Canada and beyond, and want to travel to the events we host around the world, this is that job.
What we're looking for
- Fluent on camera. Hosting, interviewing, presenting. This is not optional for this role.
- A portfolio. Videos, ads, copy, and at least one audience you've grown, with numbers. This is the first thing we look at.
- An eye for what works: hooks, pacing, the first three seconds. You can explain why one piece did well and another didn't.
- Copy that sells. Landing pages, emails, captions.
- Daily use of AI tools, with something you've built to show for it.
- Based in Toronto or within driving distance. A lot of the work happens at events.
Helpful but not required: time inside a DTC brand, events or membership marketing.
Compensation and benefits
Total compensation can be over six figures ($100,000+) in on-target earnings, depending on experience, made up of base salary and a performance bonus on the channels you own. Travel to the events we host, in Toronto, Singapore, LA, Australia and the cities that come next. A $1,000 wellness stipend ($1,500 with a spouse or dependants) for health, dental, fitness or your home office.
Remote-first with flexible hours. A quarterly creative budget and the equipment you need. Start as soon as possible. We'd like you with us for the Toronto Summit on Oct 29 and 30. This is a full time role.
If you're currently employed and the fit is right, we're open to starting part-time or on contract and building to full-time once we've worked together.
How to apply
No resume needed. The application takes about 15 minutes. Apply here: https://go.ecomnorth.com/headofcontent
Know someone? $1,000 referral
If you know the right person for this, send them this posting and have them put your name in the application form. If we hire them and they pass their first 90 days, we'll send you $1,000.
