The Opportunity
Beam Radiology is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our growing clinical support team, providing support across our Interventional Pain Management programs. This role offers a diverse scope of practice and the opportunity to work alongside an experienced, multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced diagnostic imaging and interventional environment.
The successful candidate will provide essential support to patients and clinical staff by assisting with day-to-day patient care and operational activities within the Pain Management program. The HCA will work closely with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support a safe, respectful, and patient-focused experience.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Support
- Support patients before, during, and after pain-management procedures by providing compassionate, respectful, and professional care.
- Reinforce post-procedure instructions as directed by the responsible healthcare professional.
- Observe patients and promptly report changes in their condition or other concerns to the appropriate healthcare professional.
- Accompany patients and assist with safe transfers, positioning, and mobility.
- Assist with first aid and medication-related activities only when directed, authorized, and permitted within the HCA’s scope of practice and Beam Radiology policies.
- Contribute to continuity of patient care by communicating relevant patient information, supporting appropriate follow-up,
and collaborating with the clinical team throughout the patient’s care journey.
Clinical & Operational Support
- Assist nursing staff with obtaining and documenting pre- and post-procedure vital signs, as directed.
- Prepare patient care areas and support room turnover between procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, stocked, and organized clinical environment.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of the pain-management procedures offered by Beam Radiology, with training provided.
- Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support coordinated patient care.
Documentation & Communication
- Complete accurate, timely, and appropriate documentation related to patient phone calls, assessments, care activities, and follow-up, in accordance with the HCA’s scope of practice and Beam Radiology policies.
- Assist with documentation in patient charts as required.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with patients and team members.
- Adhere to privacy legislation and confidentiality requirements at all times.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties as required to support clinic operations and patient care.
Qualifications
Required
- Health Care Aide (HCA) Certification
- Active enrollment with the Health Care Aide (HCA) Directory
- Compliance with Alberta HCA regulatory requirements, including mandatory transition to College of Health Care Aides of Alberta (CHCAA)
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to compassionate, patient-focused care
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred / Assets
- Previous experience in healthcare, clinical support, or caregiving environments
- Experience working in diagnostic imaging, pain management, or outpatient clinical settings
Work Schedule
- Full-time, permanent role
- 8-hour shifts
- Day shifts primarily; evening shifts and weekends as required
- In-person role across Beam Radiology clinic locations
- Ability to travel within Calgary to all Beam Radiology sites is required
