- Environmental Specialist ensures compliance with all legislation surrounding Occupational Health and Safety, workplace safety and insurance, environmental, AODA and Human Rights legislation. Adherence to OHSA, ISO 14001 &
- ISO 45001 standards. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all legislation surrounding Occupational Health and Safety, attending and conducting Health &
- Safety Meetings, including follow-up ensuring all necessary stakeholders are informed of status, and implements and maintains all H&
- S initiatives, policies and establishes best practices for ACI.

Position Responsibilities:

- Completes new hire orientation as required
- Assist HSE Manager with monthly stats compilation for corporate reporting
- Oversees all environmental initiatives ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 requirements
- Chairs the environmental Green Team committee
- Conducts daily compliance walks throughout the facility
- Maintains SDS books, evacuation tally sheets and drills
- Consults with necessary departments regarding new equipment purchases, ergonomic design, guarding, etc. to ensure due diligence.




- Conducts employee meetings & information sessions on a regular basis for issues relating to H&S; and the environment.
- Assists in Fire Prevention program
- Conducts respirator fit tests as needed
- Co-chairs the monthly JHSC meeting.
- Oversee and maintain medical surveillance program and auditory testing program
- Holds monthly management review meetings for Health, Safety and Environment department covering activity and compliance.
- Ensures reporting of all Accident/Injuries/First Aids reports are completed in detail. Assists with investigation to determine root cause.
- Reports on stats of all Accident/Injuries/First Aids on a monthly basis.
- Maintain hazardous waste station and spill kits
- Assists HSE manager with WSIB claims and modified work plans
- Ensure SDS inventory is current

Essential Skills and Experience:

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar health & safety role
- Understanding and application of Environmental programs and experience with ISO 14001/45001 preferred
- Familiar with WSIB and Ministry of Labour initiatives and the Ministry of the Environment
- Strong knowledge of employment standards, and due diligence
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work
- Strong computer skills
- Ability to keep the strictest confidentiality when dealing with employee information, medical and modified work limitations, etc.
- Experience with ergonomic assessments is a strong asset
- Previous experience in an automotive setting is a strong asset

Education:

- College diploma in Occupational Health & Safety is required or must be attained - or closely related discipline. Equivalent experience and training will be considered.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: From $64,200.00 per year
