Are you passionate about how machines work? Do you enjoy working with tools, solving mechanical problems, and learning through hands-on experience? Arla Foods Canada is looking for an Industrial Millwright Apprentice to join our Maintenance team and develop the skills required to become a licensed Industrial Mechanic Millwright (433A) in Ontario.
This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced licensed Millwrights in a fast-paced manufacturing workplace. You'll gain practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting production equipment while building the skills, knowledge, and hours required for a successful trades career.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist with repairs, overhauls, installations, and maintenance of production and packaging equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, motors, pumps, and gearboxes.
- Support machinery setup, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting activities.
- Participate in commissioning new or rebuilt equipment.
- Learn basic fabrication techniques using shop equipment and tools.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks and document work within our maintenance management system.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout practices under supervision.
- Maintain maintenance records, logbooks, and work documentation accurately.
- Support continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing initiatives.
- Collaborate with production teams to support safe and efficient operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by licensed Millwrights or Maintenance Supervisors.

This opportunity is especially suited to candidates who fit one of the following profiles:
- Profile 1: Early Career Mechanical Professional -
You currently work, or have recently worked, as a Maintenance Technician, Mechanical Technician, Equipment Technician, Machine Builder, Production Maintenance Associate, or in a similar hands-on mechanical role.
You have developed practical maintenance and troubleshooting skills but have not yet obtained your Millwright license.
- Profile 2: Mechanically Inclined Apprentice Candidate –
You have completed, or are currently completing, Millwright-related, Mechanical Technician, Industrial Maintenance, Electromechanical, or similar trade education and can demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude through work experience, personal projects, automotive work, fabrication, farming, machinery repair, construction, motorsports, or other hands-on mechanical pursuits.
What You Bring
We are looking for individuals who already have a foundation of mechanical knowledge, experience, or aptitude and are eager to develop into licensed Industrial Millwrights.

- Enrollment in, completion of, or eligibility for a Millwright, Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Technician, Electromechanical, or related educational program.
- Eligible to register as an Industrial Millwright Apprentice in Ontario, or willing to work with Arla to become registered.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willingness to complete all required in-school apprenticeship training.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, maintenance, or mechanical environment is considered an asset.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, or diagnostic tools is an asset.
