Intermediate Fire Protection and Life Safety Consultant

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct building code and life safety reviews for a variety of projects.
- Review architectural and engineering drawings to assess compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare technical analysis, code compliance strategies, reports, and project deliverables, including alternative solutions.
- Manage project assignments, coordinate deliverables, and communicate project progress with internal teams and clients.
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, field reviews, and inspections throughout the design, permitting, construction and occupancy phases.
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction to support successful project outcomes.
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to the development of junior team members.

Education, Skills, and Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or a related discipline; or
- Diploma in Applied Science Technology and AScT designation

Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in fire protection and life safety consulting, building code consulting, engineering, architecture or a related field.
- Experience conducting building code reviews and preparing technical reports and compliance documentation.
- Experience collaborating with clients, design teams, contractors and regulatory authorities.
- Experience supporting projects through planning, design, permitting, construction, and occupancy phases.

Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the British Columbia Building Code, Vancouver Building By-law, and related fire and life safety standards.
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings and apply the applicable code requirements to building design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.




- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical report writing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, eligibility for registration, or equivalent professional credential is considered an asset.
- Experience with Certified Professional projects, site inspections, and municipal processes.

As an Intermediate Fire Protection & Life Safety Consultant, you will play an active role in the delivery of building code, fire protection, and life safety consulting projects from concept through occupancy. Working closely with Project Managers and Team Leads, you will conduct code reviews, prepare technical reports, support alternative solutions, participate in client and project meetings, and contribute to project delivery across a wide range of building types. This position is well suited for a consultant who has developed a strong technical foundation and is ready to take on greater responsibility while continuing to build expertise in fire protection and life safety consulting.

Based in our Vancouver office, this hybrid role offers a balance of in-office collaboration and flexible work arrangements while supporting projects across Canada.
