ABOUT SERVICEXCEL:

ServiceXCEL is Vancouver Island's quality-first HVAC and plumbing contractor, serving the corridor from Duncan to Comox. We specialize in residential heating, cooling, and comfort — furnaces, fireplaces, heat pumps, water heating, and more — built on a foundation of technical excellence, genuine customer care, and our core values.

We're a close-knit team that takes real pride in our work and our community. We invest in our people, hold each other to a high standard, and genuinely want everyone here to grow.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We're looking for an HVAC/R Service Technician that holds a valid class B gas ticket, who is as good with people as they are with equipment. This is primarily a service and maintenance role — you'll spend your days diagnosing, servicing, and repairing gas-fired equipment: furnaces, gas fireplaces, tankless and traditional water heaters, and dualfuel systems. Furnace troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair is the core of the job, so you'll need real hands-on experience there.

From time to time you may also support our install team, and any additional HVAC or plumbing capability you bring is genuinely valued — both in how we pay you and in the range of work we can hand you. We follow the Nexstar service system, and we'll give you every tool and resource to thrive in it: present customers with clear options, do the job right the first time, and build the kind of trust that turns first calls into long-term relationships. Our customers have come to expect a consistent experience from ServiceXCEL, so we run a defined process on every call — the goal is that a homeowner gets the same professional, positive visit no matter which of our technicians shows up.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN:

This role carries six core accountabilities. These are the outcomes you own, day in and day out.

1. Service System Execution Execute the Service System process on every call; follow the system consistently from arrival through follow-up to ensure professionalism and predictable results.
2. Options & Sales Present multiple options to every customer using flat-rate pricing; educate homeowners on their choices and book service agreements and tech-generated leads.
3. Customer Experience & Brand Own the customer experience as the face of the company; deliver red-carpet service, build trust, and generate positive reviews and repeat business. 4. Technical Diagnosis & Quality Diagnose gas, HVAC, and plumbing issues accurately; deliver reliable solutions that solve the problem right the first time and minimize callbacks. 5.

Performance Measurables Own your assigned measurables (average sale, first-call close rate, callback rate); meet or exceed targets consistently. 6. Truck & Equipment Readiness Maintain truck stock, tools, and vehicle to company standards; ensure readiness, safety, and professionalism on every call.

WHAT YOU'LL DO: Diagnose, service, and repair gas furnaces, fireplaces, tankless and traditional water heaters, and dual-fuel systems, and various other types of gas units.

Perform seasonal maintenance and safety inspections to a high, documented standard Present customers with transparent, honest options.

Document every job properly in ServiceTitan: photos, notes, materials, and payment collected on site.

Identify opportunities to genuinely improve customer comfort and safety, and bring them forward.

Handle your own callbacks with ownership and care — if it's your work, you make it right.

Support the install team with gas and related work from time to time as scheduling requires.

Represent ServiceXCEL professionally in every home, every interaction.

Participate in training, team meetings, and continuous improvement.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

Character — our values in action.

Service. You go above and beyond with red-carpet care, finding solutions and owning the outcome for every customer and teammate.

Fun. You bring positive energy and keep drama out, so people are genuinely glad when you walk in the room.

Care. You treat customers and teammates with kindness, respect, and empathy — caring about the person, not just the task.

Determined. You work hard, push through challenges, own your mistakes, and keep getting better.

Team Player. You're dependable and punctual, communicate early and often, and have your teammates' backs when things change.

-Valid BC driver's licence with a clean 5-year abstract Comfortable with mobile technology and documentation (we use ServiceTitan)

-Satisfactory criminal record check required.

COMPENSATION: $40~45 an hour + Performance pay.

Performance pay is earned on top of your hourly wage.

Once you're trained in our system and signed off by the Service Manager, you become eligible for our performance pay program. It rewards excellent work: sales performance, service agreement and membership sign-ups, and tech-generated leads — always earned by giving customers honest, valuable options and doing right by them.

For a technician performing well, this typically adds around $12,000 a year on top of your hourly wage, with roughly $20,000 within reach for top performers. It's real upside for people who do great work the right way. Full details are provided at offer.
