Journeyperson Automotive Technician

The Opportunity:

McKay Métis Group is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Automotive Technician.

The Role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor or designate, the Journeyperson Automotive Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of equipment.

Accountabilities:

- Perform maintenance and repair activities on various pieces of equipment as well as heavy-duty truck and semi tractors as required if skill set is available.

- Diagnosis, services and repairs various systems that are found on equipment and trucks such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, manualtransmissions, computer controlled automatic transmissions.
- Troubleshoots malfunctions in the equipment and performs repair.
- Performs routine maintenance checks and adjustments on such things as fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, and clutches; changes filters and oil, and lubricates vehicles and motor driven equipment.
- Overhauls engines, replaces engines, and rebuilds components.
- Maintains service logs and records of maintenance on all equipment.
- Prepares work orders and cost material estimates.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment such as computerized test equipment and calibration devices.
- Fabricate needed parts or items.
- Assemble gear systems.
- Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.
- Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices. Schedule maintenance for industrial machines and equipment and keep equipment service records.
- Operating safely and driving to conditions.
- Operate various makes and models of Equipment.
- Complete walk around, safety checks, and FLRA and ensure the equipment is running properly.



Report any damage or repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors.
- Operate equipment to standards, procedures, and practices.
- Report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately.
- Communicate updates to supervisor to ensure goals will be met.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and keep the truck clean.
- Provide on the job training to other employees and current hires when requested.
- Ensure proper logs are maintained of condition and location of equipment for proper shift hand-over.
- Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
- Required to operate trucks in a safe manner in congested and confined areas.
- Keeps tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.
- Performs related work as assigned.

Requirements:

- Trade certificate
- Valid driver’s license
- CVIP license considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skill.
- Self-starter who can work within a team environment and independently

Schedule:

- 7 days on 7 days off, 11.5 hours per day – subject to change

Location:

- The successful candidate must reside in Fort McMurray region, or be willing to relocate

Salary:

- Competitive total compensation package
