Job Summary The Junior Asset Accountant works in cooperation with the Equipment, Operations and Purchasing departments to ensure accurate reporting and analysis of fuel, equipment, and other materials.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the equipment and asset master database, including equipment setup, transfers, disposals, cost coding, and lifecycle tracking.
- Establish and maintain equipment, financial, and capital work orders within the accounting system.
- Administer fuel management processes, including fuel logs, fuel requisitions, fuel expenditures, corporate fuel accounting, and related reporting.
- Manage parts and fuel inventory controls, including inventory valuation, reconciliation, and oversight of physical inventory counts.
- Ensure accurate capture and reconciliation of equipment meter readings, utilization records, and fuel usage.
- Track and monitor equipment utilization, maintenance activities, operating costs, and overall asset performance.
- Create, manage, and reconcile work orders and purchase orders supporting equipment operations, maintenance, and repairs.
- Promote, support, and comply with the company's safety program and encourage employees, subcontractors, and consultants to embrace a solid safety culture.
- Complete, review, and update hazard assessments as required.
- Perform all duties safely and responsibly to protect the health and wellbeing of employees, contractors, and the public.
- Contribute to organizational success by providing technical, administrative, and operational support as required.
- Promote teamwork and maintain positive working relationships across all departments through effective communication and collaboration.
- Collaborate with project teams and participate in special initiatives and continuous improvement efforts as required.
Experience
- Completion of Accounting or Business Administration program required, with preference of an accounting specialization.
- Class 5 driver’s license preferred.
- 1 – 2 years of accounting experience required.
- Experience in using JD Edwards and Microsoft Excel is as asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Working Conditions
- Overtime as required.
- Office environment consists of sitting for extended periods of time.
- Must be physically able to lift and carry at least 10 LBS.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
