Real Estate Debt (“RED”)

Since its inception, our Real Estate Debt division has funded and/or advised on $2.5B+ of commercial deals. We provide financing solutions for land, subdivision financing, multi-family, retail, industrial, office, hospitality, mixed-use properties, and specialty financing, such as equity and structured financing deals.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Director, Investment Management, the Junior Funding Analyst, Investment Management is responsible for conducting thorough review of funding conditions, preparing draws for funding, and liaising with various internal and external stakeholders in order to facilitate timely funding of loans within the terms of the loan program. This role additionally may include credit analysis, review of financing proposals, and making recommendations with respect to the satisfaction of conditions and funding of draws.

The Junior Funding

Analyst helps to ensure that all loan advances are accurately structured in the system, allowing for proper calculation of loan-to-value (LTV), loan-to-cost (LTC), and other key financial metrics. Additionally, the role may involve preparing credit submission packages to the Lending Review Committee and funding packages for issuance to investors. This position requires strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a high-performance, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

- Loan Funding and Coordination.
- Review and verify all conditions precedent before funding approval.
- Prepare and review construction draw calculations,



ensuring compliance with approved budgets and loan terms.
- Recommend draws for funding, with a focus on financial prudence and project viability.
- Ensure all loan advances are accurately entered into the system, enabling proper calculation of LTVs, LTCs, and other key financial metrics.
- Prepare credit submission approval packages to be submitted to the Lending Review Committee for prospective investment approval submission applications.
- Prepare funding packages for issuance to investors, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct loan security and compliance reviews to validate funding readiness.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (underwriters, analysts, originators, and loan administration) and external parties (borrowers, lawyers, consultants) to facilitate seamless funding execution.
- Provide high-level oversight on loan disbursement processes to ensure adherence to guidelines.
- Provide ongoing mortgage administration services, including processing of construction advances, mortgage renewals, payout statements and mortgage discharges.
- Aide in the assessment of mortgage credit applications on an ongoing basis, separate or in conjunction with Funding responsibilities, to help evaluate: Market value reasonability
- Borrower credibility and repayment ability
- Project feasibility and exit strategy viability
- Market outlook, economic fundamentals, and risk factors
- Prepare credit recommendations and executive summaries for approval.
- Help to identify key risks and mitigants within transactions, ensuring appropriate security and documentation structures.
- Collaborate with other members of the investment management and origination teams to refine credit structuring best practices.
- Make recommendations and assist in design and implementation of control mechanisms to enhance accuracy in funding calculations and approvals.
- Identify areas for process improvement and recommend efficiencies in funding workflows.
- Help to ensure compliance with regulatory, legal,



and ethical standards related to loan administration and funding.
- Monitor key operational metrics related to funding processes and recommend strategic improvements.
- Participate in initiatives focused on optimizing funding operations and credit analysis methodologies.
- Support technology and automation enhancements to streamline funding workflows.
- Contribute to research and analysis to implement industry best practices and improve operational effectiveness.

Requirements

- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Microsoft Word, with strong data management capabilities.
- Strong analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Advanced technical skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to recent systems and applications.
- Personal interest, working knowledge, and/or experience in the real estate or commercial mortgage industry.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance team environment.
- Holding of a financial related professional designation such as a CFA, CPA or CBV, or interest in working towards such a designation would be considered an asset.
