Junior Safety & Compliance Coordinator

Black River Logistics Ltd. is looking for a motivated Junior Safety & Compliance Coordinator to join our Safety & Compliance Department.

This is a junior position suitable for someone with experience in administration, customer service, transportation, or office support who is interested in developing a career in transportation safety and regulatory compliance.

Previous trucking compliance experience is an asset but is not required. We are looking for someone who is organized, responsible, willing to learn, and interested in growing within the field.

Job Responsibilities

- Assist the Safety & Compliance Department with daily administrative and compliance activities.
- Maintain driver safety and compliance files.
- Review and organize driver documents, licences, medical documents, training records, and certifications.
- Track document expiry dates and follow up with drivers when updates are required.
- Assist with driver onboarding and safety orientation.
- Assist with Hours of Service and ELD documentation and basic log reviews.
- Help identify missing documents, uncertified logs, or incomplete records.
- Assist with roadside inspection documentation and follow-up.
- Maintain records relating to inspections, violations, tickets, and corrective actions.
- Assist with vehicle and driver compliance documentation.
- Prepare safety notices, training documents, acknowledgement forms, and internal communications.
- Assist with monitoring driver training requirements.
- Communicate professionally with drivers regarding required documents and compliance matters.
- Enter and update information in company systems and spreadsheets.
- Assist with internal audits and preparation of compliance records.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records.




- Support the Safety Manager with investigations, reports, and administrative tasks.
- Learn applicable provincial, federal, Canada/U.S. transportation safety requirements as part of the position.
- Perform other Safety & Compliance duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in administration, customer service, office support, transportation, or a related field.
- Safety or trucking industry experience is an asset but not required.
- Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills.
- Valuable written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow established procedures.
- Comfortable communicating with drivers and employees.
- Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills.
- Willingness to learn transportation regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Who We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is responsible about building a career in Safety & Compliance. The successful candidate should be willing to learn, ask questions, accept training, and gradually take on more responsibility as their knowledge develops.

This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in driver compliance, Hours of Service, ELDs, roadside inspections, safety documentation, training, audits, and transportation regulations while working with an experienced Safety & Compliance team.

Pay: $17.00-$22.00 per hour
