About the Role

Freebird Market is looking for dependable, energetic, and customer-focused Kitchen Team Members to join our Bay Adelaide Centre location in downtown Toronto.

This is a hands-on role that combines food preparation, light cooking, merchandising, and customer service in a busy weekday café environment.

We are looking for people who enjoy working with food, can move efficiently in a fast-paced setting, and are comfortable helping both in the kitchen and at the front counter when needed.

If you have experience in a café, restaurant, quick-service setting, catering kitchen, or food hall, we would love to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Prepare salads, sandwiches, wraps, parfaits, and other grab-and-go items
- Assist with daily food preparation and production
- Grill sandwiches and warm pizzas to order
- Bake and prepare items such as cookies, croissants, and other baked goods
- Replenish hot food and grab-and-go items throughout the day
- Maintain quality, freshness, portioning, and presentation standards
- Follow recipes and preparation instructions accurately
- Help keep the kitchen organized and stocked during busy service periods

Food Displays & Merchandising

- Set up and maintain attractive, well-stocked food displays
- Ensure products are properly labelled and presented
- Rotate products and monitor freshness throughout the day
- Keep display and service areas clean and organized

Customer Service This is not a back-of-house-only position. Team members should be comfortable interacting with customers throughout the day.

Responsibilities include:

- Providing friendly and professional customer service
- Taking customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Answering basic questions about menu items
- Helping customers with grab-and-go and prepared food selections
- Supporting the front counter during busy periods

Cleaning & Food Safety Everyone on the team contributes to keeping the kitchen clean and running smoothly.

Duties may include:

- Washing dishes,



utensils, trays, and kitchen equipment
- Cleaning and sanitizing workstations
- Maintaining organized storage and preparation areas
- Following food safety, sanitation, and company procedures

What We’re Looking For

- Previous experience in a kitchen, café, restaurant, catering, or food-service environment is strongly preferred
- Comfortable working in both food preparation and customer-facing roles
- Able to work quickly and efficiently during busy service periods
- Strong attention to food quality, presentation, and cleanliness
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
- Comfortable completing a variety of duties, including food prep, customer service, cleaning, and dishes
- Able to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment

Availability Candidates must be available to work Monday through Friday between approximately 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

We are currently hiring for both full-time and part-time positions.

Weekend availability is not required for this location.

Compensation

$18.00–$20.00 per hour, depending on experience.
