The Lead Carpenter, Modular Construction reports to the Modular Manager and is responsible for coordinating and leading the day-to-day activities of modular production staff to ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining high standards of quality and precision. This role oversees multiple workstations, trades, and processes, proactively managing workflow to consistently meet production timelines.

The Lead

Carpenter plays a key role in fostering clear communication, collaboration, and safe work practices across the team, supporting the efficient fabrication of high-quality modular products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teamwork & Development

- Under the direction of the Fabrication Supervisor (and in their absence), lead the daily activities of operations staff; providing coaching and training as required
- Support the Fabrication Supervisor by assisting with performance monitoring, providing. feedback, and contributing input on corrective actions as required
- Provide assistance to all workstations within the modular facility

Collaboration & Coordination

- As directed by the Fabrication Supervisor coordinates activities across multiple production stations and trade groups to maintain seamless workflow, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure on‑time product delivery
- Takes the lead on coordination and planning in the absence of the Fabrication Supervisor, working with the Manager Modular to overcome complex roadblocks

Quality and Results

- Support the Fabrication Supervisor in consistently meeting production targets while maintaining safety and quality standards
- Create production documents, run instructions, and provide transparent direction to teams
- Provide direction and give feedback to maintain industry-leading quality across all product lines
- Monitor and verify product quality to ensure alignment with customer and company expectations
- Assist in the resolution of material defects and equipment problems
- Read and interpret plans, instructions, blueprints, and specifications to determine work activities
- Ensure the efficient use of labour, machines and materials used by modular staff
- Assist with the movement of product and materials around the facility
- Monitor job progress and provide regular progress reporting to management
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
- Clean and perform preparation of worksite
- Complete data entry for daily shift and downtime reporting

Safety & Compliance

- Adhere and develop Safe Work Procedures, SOPs,



and operating documents to ensure consistency and quality
- Provide guidance to modular and maintenance team to maintain compliance and safety culture
- Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures
- Other duties as requested or required

REQUIREMENTS:

- Post secondary education in Construction or related field
- Red Seal in Construction-related trade is preferred
- First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
- 3-5 years of experience in construction or wood manufacturing is considered an asset
- Ability to read fabrication plans and blueprints
- A solid understanding of finishing tools and equipment
- Knowledge of construction equipment and processes
- A solid understanding of construction tools and equipment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Demonstrated ability to promote and maintain high standards of safety and productivity
- Strong leadership, communication and delegation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to interact with others with sensitivity, tact, diplomacy, and professionalism in all situations
- Previous scheduling and payroll experience is considered an asset
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
- Strong attention to detail, time management and problem-solving skills
- Able to work well under pressure
- High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning

WORK CONDITIONS:

- Location: K3 - 215 Orchard Ave, Castlegar, BC
- Occasional exposure to dust and fumes
- Exposure to industrial noise, moving equipment, and overlapping work-zones
- Occasional safety lockouts and access to equipment
- Requires frequent stooping/bending/crouching, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 75 or more lbs.
- Constant finger dexterity and ability to hear, and talk, on/off radio in an industrial setting
- Occasional climbing and carrying

COMPENSATION PACKAGE:

- Salary: $40.50 - $48.65 (dependent on experience)
- Schedule:



Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
