OMS Montessori is seeking a dedicated and reliable Lower Elementary Assistant to support the Lead Educator in a well-established Montessori classroom serving students ages 6 to 9.

This role is ideal for someone who values child-centered education, enjoys working collaboratively, and is interested in supporting students within an authentic Montessori environment.

Position Overview The Lower Elementary Assistant works closely with the Lead Guide to help maintain a prepared Montessori setting and to support the social, emotional, and academic development of each child. The assistant plays an important role in fostering independence, respect, and responsibility within the classroom community.

Key Responsibilities:

- support the Lead Guide in the implementation of the Montessori curriculum,
- help maintain a calm, orderly,



and fully prepared classroom environment,
- supervise and support students during work cycles, transitions, and outdoor time,
- encourage grace and courtesy, collaboration, and respectful communication,
- support students’ social, emotional, and intellectual growth,
- ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times,
- assist with classroom organization, material preparation, and record keeping as needed,
- oversee and support student dismissal procedures,
- contribute positively to the broader school community,
- perform additional duties as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications:

- ability to work collaboratively within a team environment,
- genuine interest in working with children ages 6–9,
- strong communication and interpersonal skills,
- organized, dependable, and calm under pressure,
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check (required),
- Montessori experience or training is considered an asset,
- bilingualism is an asset but not required.

Hours of Work

Monday to Friday

7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Start Date: As soon as possible.

Compensation

Salary is commensurate with experience.

Pay: $18.44-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
