Role Summary The Maintenance Technician & Tool-Die Maker is responsible for maintaining and operating production equipment to optimize availability, quality, and speed by maintaining both mechanical and electrical subsystems. With support from a Maintenance Lead, the Technician will troubleshoot production issues and make repairs and adjustments when required. They will also bring in Tooling Maintenance and Repair and Fabrication & Machining experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Tooling Maintenance and Repair

· Diagnose root causes of tooling failures and implement corrective actions.

· Perform die changeovers and provide tooling setup support as required.





· Conduct preventative maintenance on tooling and related equipment.

2. Fabrication and Machining

· Operate machine shop equipment including:

o Manual lathes o Milling machines o Surface grinders o Drill presses o Saws o CNC equipment (where applicable)

· Fit, assemble, and test tooling components to required tolerances.

· Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.

3. Maintenance

· Ensure equipment and machinery is operating at peak performance to efficiently execute the daily production plan

· Follow a schedule of preventative maintenance with Operations to keep overtime and downtime to a minimum

· Ensure plant and equipment is in good order by regular inspection and site audit

· Assist in the development and implementation of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E;) plan for the Hamilton site.

· Understand and follow Lockout/Tagout and machine guarding program.

· Investigate cost effective solutions to plant and machine problems.

· Contacting external vendors as needed to resolve machine issues.

· Enter workorders in electronic CMMS.

Qualifications

· Robust knowledge of stamping dies, fixtures, jigs,



and tooling systems.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.

· Experience using precision measuring equipment.

· Experience in metal forming, stamping, roll forming, or mining products manufacturing environments.

· Tool and Die Maker Certificate of Qualification (430A) or equivalent trade certification.

· 5 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or comparable role in a similar environment.

· Trades accreditation is an asset, or equivalent work experience.

· Industrial experience is an asset/highly preferrable

· Ability to get certified - Valid Forklift certification & Valid Scissor Lift certification is an asset (If the selected incumbent does not possess a valid certification, training will be provided within 90 days of hire)

· Previous experience in mechanical prevention and predictive maintenance programs preferred.

· Demonstrated ability to successfully prioritize, manage time well, multitask, and troubleshoot.

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
