Maintenance Technician (Minimum 4th Class Power Engineer)

Nunastar Properties Inc. is seeking a motivated and experienced Maintenance Technician to join the team at Astro Hill Complex in Iqaluit, Nunavut.
Reporting to the Building Operator, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and operation of building systems throughout a multi-use commercial, retail, residential, and office complex. This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and overall performance of the property while delivering exceptional service to tenants and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot building mechanical systems, boilers, and heating equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of mechanical rooms, common areas, building infrastructure, and critical equipment.
- Respond to tenant maintenance requests and service calls in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment failures and implementing corrective actions.
- Support capital improvement projects, renovations, and contractor coordination activities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, preventative maintenance logs, and work orders.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, company policies, and building regulations.
- Maintain positive working relationships with tenants, contractors, vendors, and team members.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate (required).
- Previous experience in commercial, institutional, hospitality, retail, or multi-residential building operations.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, boilers, heating systems, plumbing,
electrical systems, and building automation controls.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and building system issues.
- Experience working in northern, remote, or Arctic environments is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's licence required.
- Additional trades certifications would be considered an asset.

Pay: $90,000.00-$98,000.00 per year
