Manufacturing Engineer — Metal Fabrication

Every custom fixture and display Somerville builds starts as a concept — and it's the Manufacturing Engineer who turns that concept into precision metal, programmed, cut, and fabricated to spec for some of the biggest names in retail. If you want your SolidWorks models and laser/turret programming to show up on the sales floor of major brands rather than sit in a drawing archive, this is where that happens.

You'll sit at the intersection of design and production — translating Creative's vision into shop-ready drawings, running the laser and turret operations that bring it to life, and making sure every part that leaves the shop meets the standard it needs to.

What you'll do

Engineer and detail

- Build metal shop drawings in 3D using SolidWorks
- Program laser and turret operations for custom displays and fixtures in sheet metal
- Create production and installation drawings for in-house fabrications, and approve first-offs before they move to production

Run the shop floor

- Set up and manage tooling for laser and turret operations
- Perform quality control checks and inspections on cut and fabricated parts
- Manage change orders, keeping drawings and part files current and accurate

Keep production moving

- Coordinate workflow scheduling with the Creative Director and Production to hit delivery timelines




- Liaise with Production and Prototype teams to keep fabrication accurate and on schedule
- Develop processes and standard operating procedures for file and production docket organization

What you bring

- 3-5+ years working full-time in a metal manufacturing facility, with hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication and working knowledge of metal welding
- Hands-on experience with laser and turret programming in a sheet metal environment
- Extensive experience modelling and producing shop drawings in SolidWorks
- Background in quality control processes within metal fabrication
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with the judgment to make effective calls under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to multi-task against deadlines

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
