Summary The Marketing & Communications Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Marketing & Communications department, ensuring the successful planning,

coordination and delivery of marketing initiatives that support the Canadian Franchise

Association's strategic priorities.

Working closely with the Sr. Manager, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Affairs & Global

Affairs, this role leads departmental operations, project management, workflow, resource planning and team coordination to ensure marketing initiatives are delivered efficiently,

effectively and in alignment with organizational objectives.

The Marketing & Communications Manager provides leadership, coaching and operational guidance to the Marketing & Communications team while fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement. This role also works closely with internal departments, external agencies and vendors to support integrated marketing campaigns, events and member engagement initiatives that strengthen the CFA brand and member experience.

This role is subject to change, based upon the needs of the CFA and its members. Other duties may be assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Department Leadership & Operations

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Marketing & Communications department.
- Coordinate departmental workflow, project priorities and team resources to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and on schedule.
- Develop, maintain and oversee the department's marketing calendar, project timelines and production schedules.
- Monitor departmental workloads and adjust priorities to ensure resources are effectively allocated across projects and organizational initiatives.
- Establish and improve department processes, workflows and operating procedures to enhance efficiency and collaboration.
- Support the implementation of the annual Marketing & Communications Plan.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative and high-performing team workplace.

Project Management & Campaign Coordination

- Lead the development and execution of marketing and communications projects that support organizational priorities and business goals.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, timelines, approvals and production processes to ensure seamless delivery of campaigns and initiatives.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects with internal departments and external partners.
- Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues that may impact timelines or deliverables.
- Ensure alignment and coordination across multiple concurrent marketing initiatives, balancing competing priorities and departmental resources to meet organizational objectives.
- Ensure marketing initiatives are delivered on time, within scope and aligned with organizational priorities.

Event, Membership & Program Marketing

- Oversee the marketing coordination of CFA events, education programs, membership initiatives and organizational campaigns.




- Coordinate marketing activities supporting the National Convention, Franchise Canada Shows, education programs, networking events and other organizational initiatives.
- Oversee the Swoogo registration platform and marketing coordination for event registration campaigns.
- Coordinate video production and creative assets supporting marketing initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to support successful event promotion and member engagement.
- Coordinate marketing support for signature events, membership campaigns, education programs and organizational initiatives to ensure a consistent member experience.

Team Leadership & Development

- Provide leadership, coaching and day-to-day direction to the Marketing & Communications Specialist and Marketing & Communications Coordinator.
- Delegate projects and responsibilities while balancing team workload and priorities.
- Conduct regular team meetings to monitor progress, identify priorities and encourage collaboration.
- Support employee development through coaching, feedback and professional growth opportunities.
- Foster a positive, collaborative and accountable team culture that encourages innovation, professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members as required.

Marketing Operations

- Coordinate marketing production schedules across digital, print and event marketing initiatives.
- Support the management of marketing budgets by tracking expenditures, invoices and project costs.
- Coordinate relationships with external agencies, designers, printers, photographers, videographers and other vendors.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of marketing systems, platforms and technologies.
- Ensure marketing materials and projects are delivered in accordance with established brand standards and organizational objectives.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of marketing technologies, tools and platforms that improve departmental effectiveness
- Maintain department documentation, templates, and marketing processes to support consistency and operational excellence

Collaboration & Communications

- Collaborate with internal departments to develop and coordinate marketing initiatives
- that support organizational priorities.
- Work closely with the Sr. Manager, Marketing, Public Relations, Public Affairs & Global
- Affairs to ensure marketing activities align with strategic objectives and organizational
- priorities.
- Support internal communications and cross-functional collaboration on key
- organizational initiatives.
- Foster positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement





- Monitor departmental project status and marketing performance to ensure objectives are achieved.
- Monitor departmental objectives and provide regular status updates to the Associate Director on project progress and operational priorities.
- Review project outcomes and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow, collaboration, resource utilization and project delivery.
- Support a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement across the department.

Job Requirements

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Event Management or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience leading projects or programs in marketing, communications, event management or a related discipline.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate and support a collaborative team.
- Robust organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience managing cross-functional projects and working with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating external agencies, vendors and suppliers.
- Working knowledge of digital marketing, event marketing and marketing communications.
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills and familiarity with project management platforms, CRM databases and marketing technology.
- Experience in a membership-based, association, not-for-profit or B2B organization is considered an asset.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

PLEASE NOTE:

- The is a consolidated list of core duties and functions and will be adjusted from time-to-time as events, programs, and services are added or removed. Other duties and responsibilities will be assigned, as necessary. This role is subject to change, based upon the needs of the CFA and its members.
- The position requires regular daily work hours but may also require the individual to work extended hours and weekends, as required. A valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and travel across Canada may be required.
- The CFA works in a hybrid office model with the requirement of working in the office as well as remotely on a regular schedule. Employees should be prepared to work from the office or remotely on a full-time basis. The work schedule is determined by the CFA and is subject to change based on the needs of the organization and its members.
