We are looking for a full time permanent Medical Office Assistant to join our Thoracic surgery office. We are a tight-knit, friendly office with 4 surgeons currently and a new surgeon joining our practice in November. We are looking for a self directed individual that has the ability to work independently and as a team member.
Prior experience in a medical office and knowledge with electronic medical records is an asset. Wage negotiable and will be based on medical office experience, initiative and performance
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors professionally at the front desk, ensuring a welcoming environment
- Answering telephone calls
- Verify patient information and update electronic medical records (Accuro)
- Prepare and organize medical charts, forms, and documentation for appointments
- Handle administrative tasks such as e-filing, faxing, copying, requisitioning of tests
- Booking of surgical and endoscopic procedures
- Confirming surgical/endoscopic times and pre-operative instructions
- Office appointment scheduling
- Ensure compliance with privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information
Skills
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology
- Experience in medical or surgical office
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask efficiently
- Robust communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and medical providers
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Medical office assistant certificate program
- Medical or surgical office assistant or nursing unit clerk experience (minimum 2 years)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $28.00-$32.00 per hour
