Job Summary
Assess insurance applications and determine risk exposure to support underwriting decisions. Apply industry guidelines and data analysis to develop policy terms and premium rates.

Main Duties
- Evaluate insurance applications, financial records, medical information and other documentation to determine eligibility and risk level.
- Analyze risk factors and calculate appropriate premium rates, coverage limits and policy exclusions in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
- Review and renew existing policies, adjusting terms based on claims history, market conditions and updated risk assessments.
- Collaborate with insurance brokers, agents, claims staff and other stakeholders to clarify coverage, resolve issues and ensure accurate documentation.
- Prepare and maintain thorough underwriting files, reports and correspondence for audit, regulatory compliance and management review.
- Use underwriting software, databases and analytical tools to perform risk modeling, portfolio monitoring and trend analysis.
Requirements
- Post‑secondary diploma or degree in insurance, finance, business administration, risk management or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in underwriting, risk assessment, or a related insurance role.
- Solid knowledge of insurance products, policy wording, coverage types and underwriting principles.
- Proficiency with underwriting systems,
databases and standard office software such as spreadsheets.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with keen attention to detail and sound decision‑making ability.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with brokers, agents and internal teams.
