New Moon Psychotherapy

Toronto

New Moon Psychotherapy is a trauma-focused practice in downtown Toronto. We work with people on the things that can be hardest to talk about: trauma, sex, relationships, and the ways these experiences affect their lives. Our therapists do thoughtful, complex work, and we’re looking for a Nurse Practitioner who wants to bring equally thoughtful assessment and medical care to our adult clients.

This is a new service for us, and the right NP will help shape it. You’ll practise independently within your scope while collaborating with a team that values sound clinical judgment, honest conversations, and care that sees the whole person.

About the Role

We are looking for an NP who is interested in providing comprehensive mental health care for adults, with the autonomy and scope of practice associated with Nurse Practitioner practice in Ontario.

The role is intentionally flexible and can be shaped around the successful candidate's clinical experience, areas of interest, availability, and scope of practice.

Depending on the candidate's qualifications and clinical focus, responsibilities may include:

- Conducting comprehensive health and mental health assessments
- Assessing, diagnosing, and managing health conditions within NP scope of practice
- Developing individualized treatment and care plans
- Prescribing medications and managing medication treatment where clinically appropriate and within scope
- Monitoring treatment response, side effects, and changes in clinical presentation
- Providing follow-up care and adjusting treatment plans as needed
- Supporting clients with mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, ADHD, and other presentations within the NP's scope
- Providing psychoeducation and health promotion
- Consulting and collaborating with New Moon's psychotherapists and other healthcare providers, with appropriate client consent
- Making referrals and coordinating care with physicians, psychiatrists, specialists, and other healthcare professionals when indicated
- Supporting continuity of care for clients receiving psychotherapy at Current Moon

New Moon works extensively with clients experiencing trauma and PTSD, sexual and relationship concerns, emotion dysregulation, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other complex mental health concerns. Experience working with these populations would be an asset. As we develop this service, the successful NP will have an opportunity to help shape how NP services are integrated into our practice, based on their clinical interests and expertise.

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for an NP who:

- Is registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Holds the appropriate NP registration and authority to practice in Ontario
- Has experience in mental health, primary care, or another clinical setting relevant to the role
- Is comfortable conducting comprehensive assessments and managing care independently within their scope
- Has strong clinical judgment and recognizes when consultation, collaboration, or referral is appropriate
- Values collaborative, interdisciplinary care
- Takes a compassionate, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental approach
- Is comfortable working with diverse clients and a broad range of mental health, relationship, and sexuality-related concerns
- Has strong communication, clinical documentation, and care-coordination skills

Experience in the following would be considered an asset:
- Mental health and psychiatric nursing

- Trauma and PTSD

- ADHD and autism

- Anxiety and mood disorders

- Medication management

- Sexual health
- LGBTQIA+ health and mental health
- Substance use and concurrent disorders
- Complex or co-occurring mental health concerns

Why Join New Moon? New Moon offers an established clinical environment where NPs can work alongside a multidisciplinary psychotherapy team while maintaining the professional autonomy of their practice.

You’ll join an established practice with an existing adult client population, while maintaining autonomy in your clinical work. You’ll have access to a comfortable, warmly lit office in downtown Toronto and the opportunity to work alongside clinicians who specialize in trauma, sex, and relationship therapy.

We are particularly interested in finding someone who sees value in integrated mental health care and enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines.

Because this is a developing service, we are open to discussing how the role can best fit your clinical interests, availability, and areas of expertise.

Schedule & Practice Arrangement

We are open to discussing a flexible arrangement based on the NP's availability, experience, and preferred practice structure.

The position may be structured as either a salaried employee role or an independent contractor arrangement, depending on the candidate's preferences and the scope and structure of the position.

The role could include a regular clinic schedule, dedicated assessment and consultation hours, ongoing client care, or a combination of services.

Compensation

$65–$100 per hour, depending on the practice arrangement and experience.

Compensation will be structured according to the nature of the position. A salaried arrangement and an independent contractor arrangement may be considered, with specific compensation and terms discussed with the successful candidate.
