We are seeking an Operations & Bar Manager who will be an integral contributor to the overall success of the restaurant. They manage daily restaurant operations and support the General Manager in their pursuit and delivery of consistent and excellent guest experiences, while effectively enforcing the company’s policies and procedures. The OMS must be able to competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager and eagerly participate in educational and training opportunities.
Other responsibilities include curating and maintaining the wine menu, recommending best pairings, execution of monthly inventory, designing and supervising wine service, and collaborating with winemakers and agents on behalf of the restaurant. The OMS must be able to motivate and positively influence staff and contribute solutions during times of low morale and the need for employee growth.

Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Support the General Manager in the daily operation and overall success of Rizzo’s House of Parm.
- Lead restaurant operations during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth and efficient service from open to close.
- Act as a key management presence on the floor and set the standard for hospitality, professionalism, and service.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective deployment of team members throughout service.
- Monitor restaurant cleanliness, organization, maintenance, and overall presentation.
- Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions quickly and effectively.
- Monitor service flow and make real-time decisions to optimize guest experience and restaurant performance.
- Support revenue-generating initiatives and identify opportunities to increase sales and profitability.
- Maintain compliance with all health,
safety, sanitation, and company standards.
- Handle guest concerns and service recovery professionally and effectively.
- Ensure opening, closing, side work, and daily operational procedures are completed consistently.
- Support the General Manager with administrative and operational reporting as required.
- Maintain strong communication between front-of-house, back-of-house, bar, and management teams.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Lead by example and create a positive, energetic, and accountable restaurant culture.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings and communicate service priorities, features, staffing updates, and operational information.
- Provide consistent in-the-moment coaching and feedback to team members.
- Support recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, performance reviews, and progressive discipline alongside the General Manager.
- Develop team members through ongoing education, coaching, and opportunities for growth.
- Maintain high employee morale and address concerns proactively and professionally.
- Recognize and celebrate team achievements and contributions.
- Foster clear and respectful communication between management, FOH, BOH, and bar teams.
- Help create and implement ongoing training initiatives focused on hospitality, food, wine, cocktails, and restaurant operations.
- Work alongside the kitchen leadership team to identify operational opportunities and improve communication between FOH and BOH.
Bar & Beverage Management
- Take ownership of the day-to-day operation and execution of the Rizzo’s bar program.
- Lead and maintain the cocktail, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage programs in collaboration with the General Manager.
- Ensure beverage offerings reflect the Rizzo’s brand and provide a consistent, high-quality guest experience.
- Develop and maintain beverage features, seasonal offerings, and special programming.
- Manage beverage ordering, receiving, storage, organization, and inventory.
- Complete regular beverage inventory and work with the General Manager to monitor beverage costs and margins.
- Maintain accurate beverage costing and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
- Ensure proper POS programming for all beverage offerings, including features, shortages, pricing, and 86s.
- Maintain bar equipment, tools, glassware, and storage areas to a high standard.
- Build and maintain relationships with beverage suppliers, agents, wineries, breweries, and other industry partners.
- Work with suppliers and representatives to identify new products, educational opportunities, and programming that align with the restaurant.
- Ensure responsible alcohol service and compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Lead by example behind the bar and on the floor when required.
Training & Culture
- Develop engaging and knowledge-driven training initiatives
- Collaborate on workshops,
guest speaker opportunities, and staff development programs
- Recognize and celebrate employee achievements and milestones
- Work closely with senior staff through regular coaching and 1:1 meetings
- Help maintain and update service manuals, food bibles, and operational systems
Weekly Deliverables
- Beverage ordering and inventory management.
- LCBO and supplier ordering.
- Beverage costing and margin monitoring.
- POS programming for new beverages, features, 86s, and pricing changes.
- Weekly bar organization, equipment, and storage checks.
- FOH beverage and wine training.
- Pre-shift meetings and ongoing team coaching.
- Wine and beverage tastings and supplier education.
- Monitoring beverage sales and identifying opportunities to increase revenue.
- Maintaining beverage pars and ordering systems.
- Supporting staff scheduling and operational planning.
- Regular communication with the General Manager regarding operational opportunities, challenges, staffing, and financial performance.
Requirements & Experience
- 2+ years of management experience in a high-volume, high-standard restaurant environment.
- Strong bar and beverage experience, with demonstrated knowledge of cocktails, wine, beer, and spirits.
- Experience managing beverage inventory, ordering, costing, and supplier relationships.
- Previous leadership experience managing and developing restaurant teams.
- Wine education or sommelier experience is considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education in Hospitality, Business, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field is an asset.
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, financial performance, labour, and cost control.
- Knowledge of food safety, responsible alcohol service, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-oriented in a high-pressure environment.
- Ability to work independently and make confident decisions in the absence of the General Manager.
- Strong computer and POS skills.
- Genuine passion for hospitality, food, beverage, and creating memorable guest experiences.
What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, confident, organized, and genuinely excited about hospitality.
Someone who can lead a busy Friday night, build a great bar program, coach a new server, talk wine with a regular, solve an operational problem, and jump in wherever the team needs them.
