Sight N’ Steps is an established eye care practice in Ajax, Ontario, dedicated to providing personalized, comprehensive eye care in a welcoming and patient-focused environment.

We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and motivated Optometric Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate enjoys working with people, is organized and detail-oriented, and is passionate about creating an excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities

- Welcome and check in patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer phones, schedule and confirm appointments
- Assist with pre-testing and preliminary patient workups
- Perform testing such as autorefraction, tonometry, lensometry and retinal imaging as trained
- Obtain and document accurate patient histories
- Assist the optometrist during examinations when required
- Educate patients on eye health, eyewear and recommended follow-up care
- Assist patients with frame selection and optical needs
- Process payments, insurance claims and other administrative tasks
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure the clinic remains organized
- Help maintain a clean, professional and welcoming clinic environment
- Support the team with day-to-day clinic operations

Qualifications

- Previous experience in an optometry, ophthalmology,



optical or healthcare setting is an asset
- Experience with pre-testing equipment is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- Comfortable using computers and learning new software
- Professional, dependable and enthusiastic
- Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player
- A genuine interest in providing excellent patient care

Optometric or optical experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Employment: Full-time or Part-time

Schedule: Flexible; weekdays and some Saturdays may be required
