Who We Are:
We believe in a world where research never sleeps.
Most companies struggle to understand their customers. Not because they don't try, but because market research can be siloed, slow, and incomplete.
Discuss is changing that.
Our mission is to elevate human understanding at scale by building the always-on solution that transforms market research, making it continuous and intelligent while keeping humans at the center.
We’ve built a comprehensive, innovative, set of AI-driven solutions that have made us only one of two companies named a Leader in the Forrester Wave Q1 2026 Experience Research Platforms Report. Discuss has earned top rankings by G2 for Best Results, Customer Relationships, Usability, and more for 14 consecutive quarters. We’re not slowing down any time soon.
In the age of AI, scaling empathy without losing human understanding matters. Solving this problem makes what we do every day both interesting and rewarding. Our team believes in doing the right thing, even when it's inconvenient. We build tools that customers love because we listen to them. We believe in transparency and we own the results together.
Discuss is a team of 200+ employees in 23 countries, serving 900 customers worldwide. We hire people who care about the humans on the other side of the data and want to help build something that hasn't existed before.
If you want your work to make the distance between organizations and the people they serve feel, for once, like it isn't there, we'd love to talk.
Who We’re Looking For:
We're looking for a hands-on Bilingual HR Business Partner or Generalist (French/English) who is energized by building the plane while flying it. This is a transactional, tactical, in-the-weeds role. You'll personally process payroll, administer benefits and leaves, maintain employee data, and run day-to-day People Operations for a global, distributed, recently merged workforce.
This is not a delegate-and-advise role. You'll be the operational backbone of the People function, building systems and processes as you go, often while running them for the first time. Partnering closely with the Head of People & Culture, you will translate People strategy into operational reality - reducing risk, increasing clarity, and delivering a reliable, high-quality employee experience.
If you thrive in a fast paced environment where priorities shift, processes are still being written, and the person who spots the gap is the one who fixes it, this role is for you.
How You Work
- You are a disciplined operator who values accuracy and accountability.
- You move quickly without sacrificing quality or compliance.
- You take ownership and follow through, rolling up your sleeves to do the work yourself.
- You thrive in complex, fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
What You’ll Do With Us:
At a high level you will…
- Own and scale global People Operations with a solid focus on operational rigor, compliance, and risk mitigation
- Lead post-merger integration of People processes, systems, and policies
- Execute all People programs with precision, accountability, and clear controls
- Serve as the internal authority on HR operations, compliance, and regulatory risk
- Build durable infrastructure that supports growth without introducing unnecessary complexity
- Partner cross-functionally to ensure seamless execution across hiring, payroll, benefits, performance, and exits
- Data & compliance: Ensure accurate employee data, reporting, and adherence to local labor laws.
- Maintain audit-ready People operations at all times
Payroll, Benefits & Total Rewards
- Personally manage and process payroll for all entities (US, Canada, France, United Kingdom, Germany, and EOR countries), with 100% accuracy on payroll changes, benefits eligibility, and employment status changes.
- Own benefits administration and vendor management, including open enrollment and ongoing eligibility.
- Execute compensation reviews, promotion cycles, and equity administration, partnering with Finance to make sure pay decisions are implemented correctly.
Employee Lifecycle, Leaves & Recruiting
- Own every stage of the employee lifecycle, from offer and onboarding through promotions, transfers, job changes, and exits, handling each with precision and empathy.
- Administer all Leave of Absence programs end to end, including tracking, local compliance and accommodations, payroll and advantages impacts, and return-to-work.
- Lead compliant, well-documented offboarding and termination processes.
- Own recruiting end to end with structured, compliant hiring practices, and partner with recruiting vendors on senior-level hiring.
HR Systems, Data & Compliance
- Own the HRIS and People tooling (optimization, integrations, reporting, and employee records) with a zero-defect mindset.
- Maintain compliance with global employment laws and internal policies, and serve as the internal authority on HR operational and regulatory risk.
- Keep People Operations audit-ready at all times through strong documentation and controls.
- Partner with Legal, Finance, and external vendors on compliance, immigration, and issue resolution.
- Oversee the contingent workforce,
ensuring accurate classification and documentation.
Building the Foundation (Post-Merger Integration)
- Integrate People processes, policies, systems, and cultures across merged entities into one unified, scalable framework.
- Assess legacy HR practices, identify gaps, redundancies, and compliance risks, and fix them.
- Build and maintain the People & Culture playbook, documenting SOPs, workflows, controls, and escalation paths.
- Design workflows that define ownership, approvals, and controls, and continuously refine them to reduce errors and increase speed.
- Lead HR projects with defined scope, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
Workforce Planning & Reporting
- Partner with People leadership and Finance on workforce planning, headcount alignment, and forecasting.
- Maintain clear hiring approvals and records, plus accurate People data for audits, reporting, and leadership decisions.
Performance, Engagement & Leadership Partnership
- Run performance review cycles and employee engagement surveys with explicit timelines and data integrity, and support action planning.
- Advise founders, senior leaders, and managers on People operations, performance management, feedback, employee relations, and role clarity.
- Drive clear, timely communication and enablement during organizational change and the rollout of new programs and systems.
Additional duties, projects, and responsibilities as assigned.
What You’ve Done Before:
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bilingual fluency in French and English at a mastery level (reading, writing, and speaking)
- 5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist, HR Business Partner, and/or HR/People & Culture Leadership position
- 5+ years of experience managing and processing payroll within the US and Canada. Strong, non-negotiable knowledge of Canadian payroll compliance (CNESST, etc.) is required.
- Subject matter expert in Quebec employment compliance, laws, and practices
- Experience directly supporting global multi-entity workforces, including North America and EMEA regions
- Proven experience building and scaling People Ops in startup, high-growth, or post-merger environments
- Deep hands-on experience with HRIS, payroll coordination, benefits administration, and compliance workflows
- Familiarity with multi-country compliance and employment laws
- Demonstrated success owning complex operational workflows end to end with minimal support
- Exceptional attention to detail with a zero-defect mindset for payroll, benefits, and employee data
- Strong judgment and comfort managing employee relations, terminations, and regulatory risk
- High EQ, clear communicator, and trusted partner to employees and leaders
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and translating strategy into executable systems
- Visa and global mobility experience
- Extremely organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable being hands-on
- Experience with HRIS implementation and optimization
