About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver to support a 16-year-old young man with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair full-time. He is currently awaiting surgery and receives some support from a PSW on weekdays, but the family needs additional help to manage his growing care needs. His mother is his primary caregiver and would greatly benefit from consistent support with daily care tasks.

Responsibilities:

Your primary role will be to assist the mother with hands-on care throughout the day. Key responsibilities include:

- Transferring the client safely between his bed and wheelchair
- Assisting with toileting, hygiene, and personal care tasks
- Helping with bathing (once or twice weekly), including washing his head, hands, and feet
- Supporting with light meal preparation such as reheating food and providing reminders
- Assisting with household tasks including laundry, folding clothes, and light kitchen cleanup
- Providing companionship and maintaining a calm, patient presence

This is a supportive role working alongside the mother to ensure the client receives dignified, respectful care in his own home.

What We're Looking For:

The ideal caregiver will have:

- Experience supporting individuals who use wheelchairs, including safe transfer techniques
- Comfort providing personal care and toileting assistance
- A calm, patient, and positive demeanor
- Reliability and consistency in showing up for scheduled shifts
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with family members
- English language proficiency




- Experience with cerebral palsy or similar conditions is preferred
- Female caregiver preferred as the mother will often be alone at home

Schedule:

We're looking for someone available for 2-3 visits per week, with each shift lasting approximately 2 hours. The family is flexible on specific days and times but needs consistency week to week. Care is needed starting as soon as possible and will continue through October and into mid-November, with potential breaks when the client has scheduled hospital stays in November, December, and February.

The family is located in Cooksville, Mississauga near Hurontario and Dundas with convenient GO station access.

Additional Considerations

Experience with cerebral palsy and wheelchair transfers is essential. Client is a 16-year-old who is wheelchair-bound with cerebral palsy and scoliosis, awaiting surgery. Must be comfortable assisting with toileting, hygiene, and bathing 1-2 times per week. Light kitchen help and laundry/folding required. Client has upcoming hospital stays in November and December, followed by surgery in February.
