Nori Athletics | Port Moody, BC

We’re looking for a Personal Trainer / Fitness Coach who cares about people just as much as they care about training.

Not someone who wants to spend their day counting reps, showing people exercises, and waiting for the next client to walk through the door.

We’re looking for a coach who wants to actually make a difference in people’s lives.

ABOUT NORI ATHLETICS

Nori Athletics is not a traditional gym.

We work with everyday people — busy professionals, parents, and people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who know they need to make a change but don't necessarily see themselves as "fitness people."

Many of our clients have tried gyms, workout programs, diets, or doing it all on their own — and eventually stopped.

Not because they're lazy or incapable. They just didn't have the right support, structure, or approach.

That's where we come in.

We make fitness and health simple, sustainable, personalized, and enjoyable. Our clients don't need another cookie-cutter workout. They need a coach who listens, adapts, pays attention to the details, and genuinely cares whether they succeed.

We're a zero-ego environment where coaches are expected to keep learning, take ownership of their work, and put the client ahead of their ego.

Our Core Values

- Transparency — Communicate honestly, clearly, and openly.
- Personal Accountability — Be on time, prepared, professional, and follow through.
- Growth Minded — Keep learning, accept feedback, and continuously improve as a coach.
- Client Commitment — Do what is genuinely best for the client. Prioritize form, individual needs, and sustainable results over ego.
- Zero Ego — Leave the ego at the door. We care more about getting it right than being right.

If you're looking for somewhere to show up, run people through the same workouts, and collect a paycheque, this probably isn't the right fit.

THE JOB

As a Personal Trainer / Fitness Coach, you'll help clients build the strength, confidence, habits, and consistency needed for lasting change.

Your responsibilities include

- 1-on-1 & Tandem Coaching: Deliver personalized training sessions for individual clients and 2-on-1 pairs, adapting coaching to their goals, abilities, and needs.
- Programming & Progression: Follow and implement individualized training programs, track progress, and make appropriate adjustments.
- Nutrition Coaching:

Guide clients through Nori's structured nutrition coaching framework and help them build realistic, sustainable habits.
- Client Accountability: Build strong relationships, communicate proactively, follow up, and help clients stay consistent with their goals.
- Quality Coaching: Prioritize proper form, movement quality, and client needs over ego, intensity, or complicated exercises.
- Professional Standards: Arrive prepared and on time, keep the gym organized, complete programming and administrative work, and follow Nori systems and standards.
- Continuous Growth: Participate in team meetings, mentorship, and ongoing career development.

Compensation Probation Period — Months 1–3

- $19.50/hour guaranteed for 20 hours/week
- Week 1: Intensive onboarding including video training, mentorship, roleplay, and hands-on coaching
- Weeks 2–12: Train assigned clients, shadow senior coaches, and learn Nori systems

Post-Probation

- Client training hours: $25/hour
- Non-training hours: $20/hour
- 3 non-training hours/week minimum for client communication, nutrition check-ins, programming, meetings, and professional development
- Typical schedule: 15–19 client hours + 3–5 non-training hours/week

Career Growth Clear advancement pathway based on performance, client retention, session volume, and leadership contributions, with opportunities to grow into sales, marketing, client relations, operations, and other areas of the business.

Benefits

- Employee position — not a contractor
- Ongoing coaching and professional development
- Supportive team environment
- Annual professional development allowance
- Opportunities for continued growth within Nori Athletics

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Required

- Recognized Personal Training / Fitness Coach certification
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Experience coaching clients in a personal training or similar setting
- Strong understanding of exercise technique, movement, and basic programming
- Coachable and open to direct feedback

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Comfortable working with a wide range of fitness abilities
- Legally able to work in Canada

You'll fit in well if you:
- Genuinely enjoy helping people who aren't naturally "gym people"
- Know how to coach, not just demonstrate exercises
- Pay attention to the details and adapt when something isn't working
- Take ownership and accept feedback
- Want to continuously improve as a coach
- Care more about your client's success than looking impressive

WHO SHOULD NOT APPLY We're going to be direct because we want the right people on our team.

This probably isn't the job for you if:

- You want to simply show up, count reps, and go home.
- You don't enjoy working with beginners or everyday people.
- You rely on intimidation or a "drill sergeant" approach.
- You care more about showing what you know than understanding what your client needs.
- You're not interested in continuing to learn or receiving feedback.
- You're frequently late, unprepared, or unreliable.
- You believe every client should train the same way you do.
- You bring a big ego into the room.
- You're primarily looking to build your own personal brand or social media following.
- You don't genuinely care about the people you're coaching.

We're not looking for the trainer with the biggest personality or the most impressive Instagram. We're looking for a great coach — someone who is humble enough to keep learning, confident enough to coach effectively, and invested enough to care about the person standing in front of them.

HOW TO APPLY

We don't want a generic resume and a copy-and-paste cover letter telling us you're "passionate about fitness."

We want to get to know you.

The process

- Complete the questionnaire: https://noriathletics.com/careers/ - if you do not complete this, we will not contact you.
- Manager review: If we think you may be a fit, we'll contact you.
- Step 1 — Zoom Interview
- Step 2 — In-Person Meeting

We hire for quality over quantity. If you're looking for a team where you can become a better coach, work with great clients, and be part of a genuinely supportive, zero-ego environment, we'd love to hear from you.

Pay: $19.50-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20.0 per week

Work Location: In person
