We are looking for a reliable, hands-on and service-oriented Pharmacy Operations Assistant to support the day-to-day operation of our community pharmacy.
The position combines pharmacy upkeep and maintenance, local prescription deliveries, customer service, inventory support and general assistance to the pharmacy team. This is a part-time position, with regular hours from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Monday to Friday.
This is a good opportunity for someone looking for consistent morning work while keeping afternoons available for school, studying or other commitments. We are looking for someone who is reliable, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of their responsibilities. Previous pharmacy experience is an asset but is not required. A valid driver’s license is required. Training will be provided for pharmacy-related duties.
Qualifications & Skills
- Reliable, punctual, excellent communication skills and able to work independently
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative
- Friendly and comfortable interacting with patients and customers
- Able to manage multiple tasks and adjust priorities throughout the day
- Comfortable performing physical tasks including cleaning, stocking, carrying deliveries and snow removal
- Able to maintain patient confidentiality and behave professionally in a healthcare environment
- Valid driver's licence
- Previous customer service, retail, delivery, maintenance or pharmacy experience is an asset
Roles and Responsibilities Pharmacy Maintenance & Upkeep
- Maintain a clean,
organized and welcoming pharmacy setting
- Perform routine cleaning, including floors, counters, shelving, staff areas and other areas as required
- Take out garbage and recycling and assist with general store upkeep
- Keep entrances, walkways and surrounding areas clean and safe
- Shovel snow and apply ice melt to pharmacy entrances and walkways during winter months
- Identify maintenance or safety concerns and bring them to the attention of the pharmacy manager
- Assist with other general maintenance tasks as needed
Prescription Deliveries
- Complete local prescription and pharmacy deliveries in a timely, professional and confidential manner
- Verify that deliveries are provided to the appropriate recipient according to pharmacy procedures
- Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Communicate delivery issues or concerns promptly to pharmacy staff
- Represent the pharmacy professionally when interacting with patients in the community
Customer Service
- Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Assist customers with general inquiries and direct medication or health-related questions to the pharmacist
- Answer telephone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate team member
- Assist customers at the cash register/POS as required
- Help maintain the friendly,
welcoming atmosphere expected in a community pharmacy
Pharmacy & Inventory Support
- Receive, unpack and organize pharmacy and front-shop orders
- Restock shelves and maintain organized inventory and storage areas
- Assist with checking expiry dates and rotating stock
- Help maintain front-shop displays and product organization
- Assist the pharmacy team with non-clinical pharmacy processes as trained and permitted
- Support prescription workflow and other pharmacy assistant duties when required and once appropriately trained
General Operations
- Assist with opening tasks as assigned
- Help ensure the pharmacy is ready for operation each day
- Take initiative in identifying tasks that need to be completed rather than waiting to be directed
- Provide additional operational support during busy periods
- Perform other reasonable duties required to support the efficient day-to-day operation of the pharmacy
What We Are Looking For We are looking for a dependable, hands-on and self-motivated individual who takes pride in keeping things organized and running smoothly. The ideal candidate is reliable, punctual and ready to work as scheduled.
This role requires someone who is comfortable with a variety of hands-on responsibilities, including cleaning, stocking, organizing, carrying items, snow shovelling and completing local pharmacy deliveries. We are also looking for someone who is approachable and confident when interacting with customers, and willing to learn basic pharmacy processes to assist the pharmacy team when needed.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15.0 per week
