Full Circle Occupational Therapy

Fredericton

Full Circle Occupational Therapy (FCOT) is exploring the addition of 1-2 part time Childcare Workers that are warm, playful, and dependable people to help us bring our beloved neuro-affirming Frolic playgroup back to life! Frolic is a welcoming drop-in playgroup where children can play, explore, connect, and simply be themselves.

About Full Circle Occupational Therapy

Full Circle Occupational Therapy is a Fredericton-based occupational therapy clinic supporting children, youth, and families through individualized services, groups, community programming, and opportunities for meaningful participation.

Our approach recognizes that children develop, learn, communicate, regulate, and engage with the world in different ways. We aim to create spaces where children and families feel welcomed and supported, with programming that is flexible, inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming, and responsive to the children in front of us.

And we believe strongly in the importance of play.

About Frolic

Frolic is envisioned as a relaxed, welcoming drop-in playgroup for young children and their families.

Rather than being highly structured or focused on achieving specific developmental outcomes, Frolic will create opportunities for children to move, explore, create, play alongside others, and engage at their own pace.

A typical morning might include sensory and imaginative play, simple crafts, movement activities, toys and play stations, music, stories, outdoor play, or other activities based on the interests of the children attending.

Some children may jump right in. Others may need time to observe before participating. Some may love being around other children, while others may prefer to play independently nearby. We want Frolic to be a space where there is room for all of that.

Who We're Looking For

We are interested in hearing from folks who genuinely enjoy being around young children and understand how to create an environment that is both fun and thoughtfully supported.

You might have experience in child care, early childhood education, recreation, education, community programming, camps, family support, or another child- and family-focused setting. Formal education in one of these areas would be an asset, but we are also interested in relevant experience and the right fit for our environment.

You might be a great fit if you:

- Are warm, playful, patient, and comfortable engaging with young children.
- Can follow children's interests and join their play without needing every moment to be adult-directed.
- Are comfortable supporting children with different personalities, communication styles, sensory preferences, abilities, and support needs.
- Can create simple, engaging play opportunities using everyday toys, art materials, sensory activities, movement, music, books, and imagination.
- Understand that behaviour is communication and can respond to challenging moments calmly and respectfully.
- Are comfortable communicating with parents and caregivers in a friendly and professional way.
- Can supervise children carefully while still allowing them appropriate freedom to explore.
- Are dependable, organized, and able to take initiative.
- Don't mind the practical parts of children's programming, setting up toys, cleaning up paint, wiping tables, resetting a room, preparing materials, or getting down on the floor to play.
- Have a clean criminal/vulnerable sector check
- May have First Aid/CPR training
- Enjoy coming up with new ideas and helping a program evolve over time.
- Value inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming spaces where children do not have to participate, communicate,

or play in one particular way to belong.

What the Role Could Look Like We anticipate this being a part-time position of approximately 10–15 hours per week, with the potential to evolve as Frolic and other FCOT community programming develops.

Hours would include time for running drop-in play sessions as well as preparation, set-up, clean-up, activity planning, and maintaining the play space and supplies.

Depending on the person's interests, experience, and the growth of the program, there may eventually be opportunities to become involved in additional FCOT programming such as homeschool play opportunities, weekend family programming, seasonal activities, or other community-based groups.

This is not an occupational therapy position, and you would not be expected to provide clinical assessment or intervention. You would, however, be part of a team that values thoughtful, inclusive environments for children and families and would have access to the knowledge and support of FCOT's occupational therapy team.

We'd Love to Hear From You

At this stage, we're inviting expressions of interest from people who think this kind of role sounds like them.

If you're interested, please send us a short introduction telling us:

- A little about yourself and your experience with children;
- What interests you about Frolic;
- What you think makes a great play environment for young children;
- Your general availability; and
- A résumé or summary of relevant experience.

We are especially interested in finding someone who brings warmth, initiative, creativity, and a genuine appreciation for the many different ways children play, learn, connect, and experience the world. Come help us create a place to play, connect, explore and Frolic.
