About the Role:

As a Policy Writer and Analyst, you will be a part of our Corporate Circle Team and support Compass Early Learning and Care’s commitment to clear, accessible, and values-based policies that align with the legislative requirements and our Vision Framework. You will provide leadership in the development, analysis, implementation,



and continuous improvement of organizational policies that support high-quality service delivery, legislative compliance, and Compass Early Learning and Care's vision, values, and strategic priorities.

This role combines strong writing, editing, facilitation, and communication skills to create meaningful policy resources, support organizational writing projects, and promote shared understanding and informed decision-making throughout the organization.

Some Accountabilities associated with the role include:

Corporate

- Lead the development and revision of organizational policies, working collaboratively with the Corporate Coordinator to finalize documents.
- Engages with teams across the organization to gather perspectives and ensure policies reflect diverse experiences, operational realities, and organizational priorities.
- Steward the organizational policy library, ensuring resources remain current, accessible, and meaningful for staff and stakeholders.
- Support the maintenance of policy management systems in collaboration with the Corporate Coordinator.
- Identify opportunities to simplify policies and communicate them in a way that they can be useful as a tool for shared understanding and decision making.
- Review and update the Policy Development Protocol annually, as required.
- Support with other writing projects, such as supporting documents for learning opportunities and grant applications.

Collaborative Leadership
- Building connections and relationships within our programs and teams.
- Following and living into Compass ELC mission, vision, values and policies.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Team on ongoing projects and participate in team meetings.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and development opportunities.
- Apply a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to all corporate practices.

- Mandatory Defined Pension Plan - 3% employee contribution and 3% employer contribution.

- Unpaid Time - an option for permanent staff to purchase up to 4 weeks of unpaid time that is prorated off of 24 pays

Skills and Qualifications:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Communications, Early Childhood Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, Policy Studies, or a related field.
- Experience developing, reviewing, or interpreting policies, procedures, standards, or legislation.
- Experience conducting research and translating complex information into clear written resources.
- Experience facilitating consultation and gathering stakeholder feedback.
- Strong understanding and application of Microsoft Suite
- A commitment to lifelong learning
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Strengths in facilitation
- Knowledge on Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) would be an asset
