Job Summary
We are seeking a talented Product Designer to join our Product Engineering team and contribute to the development of innovative products from concept through production.
Responsibilities
New Products Introduction
- Design and engineer new and custom products from concept through production, including CAD modeling, FMEA, testing, validation, and manufacturing implementation.
- Create and control engineering deliverables such as drawings, BOMs, ECOs, technical documentation, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support product launches, cost optimization, quality improvement, certification activities, and technical problem solving.
Custom Products Introduction
- Lead the design and development of custom-engineered products, managing projects from concept through production while ensuring designs meet customer requirements, quality standards, budget targets, and delivery timelines.
- Create manufacturable engineering solutions and technical documentation, including 3D models, drawings, BOMs, and build packages, with a focus on cost optimization, fabrication best practices, and successful production implementation.
Maintain Product Information
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including GD&T; manufacturing drawings, BOMs, routings, technical manuals,
and product specifications to support manufacturing, quality, and product lifecycle management.
- Manage engineering change control and product data integrity, ensuring accurate documentation, revision control, and technical records while supporting production readiness and continuous product improvement.
Product Regulatory Compliance
- Research and apply the standards that govern our products, including ADA, NSF/ANSI for interactive play, electrical safety standards (UL, CSA, NEC Article 680) and international market requirements.
- Support product certification with third-party labs (UL, CSA, ETL), including preparing technical files, test samples and responses to lab findings.
Support Internal Stakeholders & Customers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support custom product development, feasibility reviews, and cost estimating.
- Support product launches and production implementation, including first builds, testing, and manufacturing readiness.
- Drive product quality and continuous improvement through root cause analysis, corrective actions, and design enhancements.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and configuration control, ensuring BOM, drawing, and ECO accuracy.
Skills, Experience & Educational Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics,
or related Engineering discipline.
- 2-5 years of experience in product design, product engineering, or new product development.
- Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Hands-on, solution-oriented approach with experience supporting products from concept through production.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T;, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, sheet metal design, and prototyping/testing methodologies.
- Understanding of hydraulic systems, material selection, and design for harsh or corrosive environments.
