Area of Accountability: Responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating production activities to support customer delivery requirements, inventory targets, and operational objectives. Ensures material availability, production schedule adherence, and data accuracy while proactively addressing supply, capacity, and production challenges. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement, support program launches, and maintain efficient manufacturing operations.

Job Summary:

The Production Control Specialist is responsible for planning, coordinating, and controlling production activities in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment. This role ensures on-time delivery to OEM and Tier 1 customers while supporting lean manufacturing principles, just-in-time (JIT) production, and continuous improvement initiatives. The specialist works cross-functionally to maintain stable production schedules, optimize inventory, and support strict quality and delivery requirements.

Major Responsibilities:

- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules aligned with OEM customer releases, EDI demand, and capacity constraints
- Execute production planning in a just-in-time (JIT) and pull-based manufacturing environment
- Coordinate material flow to support line-side delivery, Kanban systems, and supermarket replenishment
- Monitor daily production performance, schedule adherence, and customer delivery requirements
- Identify and resolve production disruptions, material shortages, and capacity issues to prevent line stoppages
- Collaborate with Purchasing and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components




- Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP systems, including production orders, BOMs, routings, and inventory records
- Analyze production and inventory data to improve inventory turns, lead times, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
- Participate in daily tier meetings and provide clear communication on risks, countermeasures, and recovery plans
- Support continuous improvement activities, including Kaizen events, value stream mapping, and standardized work
- Assist in launch readiness and production ramp-ups for new or modified automotive programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Operations or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in production control, production planning, or materials management within an automotive manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, and pull systems
- Experience working with OEM schedules, EDI releases, and automotive customer requirements.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing setting. Specifically, Plex.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to react quickly in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience in Tier 1 or Tier 2 automotive manufacturing
- APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP)
- Advanced Excel or data analysis skills.

Physical and Environmental Working Conditions: This role is based in a manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with the production floor to monitor schedules, material flow, inventory levels, and production performance.

The Production

ControlSpecialist is exposed to noise, moving equipment, and typical manufacturing conditions when supporting operations. The position involves a combination of office and shop floor work, including frequent walking, standing, and occasional lifting of documents, materials, or inventory items. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn while in production areas.

Pay: $70,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
