Production Manager – Modular Construction

Summit Building Co. | Vernon, BC

Full time | Permanent

Summit Building Co. is looking for an experienced Production Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our production floor.

We design and build high-quality, bespoke modular homes, tiny homes, park models, ADUs and custom residential structures from our manufacturing facility in Vernon, BC. As we continue to refine our production systems and elevate the quality of our builds, we are looking for a strong construction leader who can take ownership of the shop floor, our team and the execution of every project moving through production.

This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who strongly understands construction building practices, can confidently lead trades and production staff, and has the organisational ability to keep multiple projects moving safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will be working day to day on the shop floor, alongside your team.

The Role:

The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring our projects are built safely, correctly, efficiently and in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality standards and production schedules.

You will work closely with management, design, purchasing, trades and production staff to coordinate daily operations and resolve issues before they impact quality or schedule.

You will be the primary leader on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and organise daily shop-floor production activities
- Direct employees, subcontractors and trades across multiple projects
- Assign work and establish daily and weekly production priorities
- Monitor project schedules and ensure production milestones are achieved
- Review construction drawings, specifications and build documentation with the team
- Ensure work is completed according to approved drawings and design intent
- Manage Summit's quality-control program throughout production
- Complete and document required inspections, testing and quality checkpoints
- Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective work before projects advance
- Ensure company quality-assurance procedures are consistently followed
- Maintain compliance with applicable construction standards and certification requirements

- Oversee shop safety procedures and maintain a strong safety culture
- Conduct safety meetings, inspections and corrective actions when required
- Coordinate production requirements with purchasing and management
- Identify material, labour or scheduling issues before they affect production
- Monitor labour efficiency, rework and production bottlenecks
- Train, coach and support production staff
- Maintain accountability for workmanship, productivity and workplace standards
- Assist with continuous improvement of production systems, procedures and workflows
- Support final quality inspections prior to delivery

Who We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who has progressed beyond simply being a strong trades-person and understands how to lead production as a whole.

The ideal candidate is confident making decisions, setting expectations and holding a team accountable while remaining approachable and solutions-focused.

You should be comfortable walking through a project and identifying issues with framing, finishing, mechanical systems, cabinetry or general construction before those issues become expensive deficiencies.

You should also understand that good production management is not simply about finishing the project, it is about completing it safely, correctly, efficiently and on schedule.

Preferred Experience

- 7+ years of construction or construction-manufacturing experience
- Previous experience in a Foreman, Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Site Superintendent or similar leadership role
- Strong residential construction knowledge
- Strong finishing, mill-work and installation knowledge
- Ability to confidently interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience managing trades and production staff
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing
- Experience with quality-control systems and inspections
- Strong understanding of workplace safety requirements

- Experience with modular, manufactured, prefabricated or factory-built construction is an asset
- Experience with CSA-certified construction environments is an asset
- Robust organisational and communication skills
- Comfortable using digital project-management and documentation systems
- Valid driver's licence

Candidates from modular construction, residential construction, manufactured housing, prefabrication, high-end custom home construction, millwork or other construction-manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply. What Success Looks Like A successful Production Manager at Summit will:
