Position Summary

IE Design is looking for an experienced Professional Structural Engineer to join our team in London, Ontario.

This role is well suited to a Professional Engineer with strong structural engineering experience and demonstrated experience working on commercial and high-rise building projects. You will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and internal team members to develop practical and technically sound structural solutions.

The successful candidate must be licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario and authorized to stamp and seal structural engineering drawings and documents.

Reporting & Key Relationships The Professional Structural Engineer will work closely with the Owners and collaborate with IE Design's engineering team, clients, architects, consultants, contractors, and other project partners.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Structural Engineering & Design

- Lead and contribute to structural engineering work across a range of building projects
- Prepare and review structural designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
- Apply professional engineering judgment throughout the design and construction process
- Stamp and seal structural engineering drawings and documents within your skilled scope of practice
- Develop structural solutions using common building systems and materials, including steel, concrete, and wood
- Contribute technical expertise to commercial, high-rise, residential, industrial, and institutional projects
- Review structural drawings and documentation for technical accuracy, constructability, and compliance
- Review shop drawings and other project documentation as required
- Conduct site investigations and inspections to support project design and construction
- Identify and resolve structural design and construction issues as they arise

Project Collaboration

- Work closely with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, clients, and other project stakeholders
- Coordinate structural requirements with architectural and other engineering disciplines
- Participate in project meetings and technical discussions
- Communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders




- Respond to project questions and provide engineering guidance throughout design and construction
- Support the delivery of projects from design development through construction

Quality & Professional Practice

- Ensure engineering work meets applicable codes, standards, regulations, and professional requirements
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy and quality in drawings, calculations, reports, and technical documentation
- Exercise professional judgment and accountability when reviewing and approving engineering work
- Support quality assurance and continuous improvement within the engineering practice
- Contribute to a team-oriented workplace where technical knowledge and experience are shared across the team

Qualifications & Experience

- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and in good standing
- Authorized and professionally qualified to stamp and seal structural engineering drawings and documents in Ontario
- 5+ years of professional structural engineering experience preferred
- Demonstrated experience working on high-rise building projects
- Strong commercial building experience
- Experience with structural systems and common construction materials, including steel, concrete, and wood
- Strong understanding of applicable Ontario codes, standards, and professional engineering requirements
- Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
- Experience working with architects, consultants, contractors, and clients throughout the project lifecycle
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and engineering judgment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and project deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Valid driver's licence and ability to attend project sites as required

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

- Full-time, on-site position based in London, Ontario
- Regular computer-based engineering and design work
- Extended periods of sitting and working at a computer
- Regular participation in meetings and collaboration with internal and external project teams
- Site visits and inspections as required
- Walking and standing on active project sites
- Occasional bending, reaching, and movement associated with site inspections
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment when attending construction sites
